UC Support & Teaser

Thanks for all the UC support.  I do appreciate it, and it does help.  Funny, there was one single person who seemed to think it was still necessary to bash me after that post.  It's weird, but the comment won't show up on the page.  It's there in the listing behind the scenes, but doesn't appear with the rest of the comments.  I didn't delete it, and would make it show up if I could.  Anyway - you know who you are.  And yeah, it's your kind of bullshit that gets me down and makes the story hard to write.  So, in general, fuck off.  I mean that in the most loving of ways.  :)

For the rest of ya - I love you all dearly, and I think the hard part for me is about over when it comes to writing UC.  Chapter 29 is off to beta, Chapter 30 should be easier to write, and I hope that will get me over this little hump I seem to be having when it comes to writing it.

If you've sent me a PM - thanks as well.  I'm really, really behind in those and hope to catch up and respond to them soon.  For all of you who continue to listen to be bitch and still support what i'm trying to do with this story, here's a little teaser for ya. :)

***

Though the crown was already officially transferred, Esme placed the simple gold ring upon Edward’s head, and then he in turn took the crown that had adorned her head for many years and placed it on mine.  As the crowd continued to call out to us, Edward jumped up on Volvo and I was placed in front of him and we rode slowly around the castle.

The people cheered as Edward waved.  I gripped his arm as he held me against his chest and his mouth breathed warm air to my ear.

“They love you,” he said.  “They see you so clearly.”

I felt heat rise to my face again as Edward’s lips pressed into my cheek, and the cheers of the people of Forks grew louder.

“Long live King Edward!  Long live Queen Isabella!”

The chanting became louder as Edward slowly moved Volvo down the streets, the stallion’s tail swishing at the ruckus around us.  People who could get close enough to us reached out and touched Volvo’s flanks, as well as Edward’s legs and the skirt of my dress.

“I believe they would do anything for you,” Edward sighed as his arm held me tighter.  “I have so much to learn – so much to make up for – but I can only hope to be as good a King as you will be a Queen.”

  2. I love UC so very much! To be honest... I love EVERYTHING you write. So, haters to the left! Sometimes this fandom is so much drama. Personally, I prefer my drama in a fic ;) Lovely teaser, can't wait to read this when it updates! <3

  5. Sounds promissing. Please Savage, find your muse and inspiration again. We have high expectations when it comes to you. I cant accept anything but excellence with UC. When do you think you are going to post the new chapter?

  6. Can't wait for the next chapter! I hope Jane and Aro get what's coming to them. I don't understand why people bash and bail and this great story. There's another story on ff called My Viking which is amazing as well but it also has 'Edvard' sleeping with other women and it's okay as it's historically accurrate. Why so much hate for UC when it's portraying what it was like during those times as well? I don't want to hate on sheviking's story as I love it as well but she receives nowhere near (that I know of) as much hate as you do. (Please, no one send hate her way. Her stories rock.) Keep your head held high knowing that youre a great author and pay no mind to the fools out there that want to cause trouble.

  8. Not reading the teaser (I never read teasers - I even try to avoid the one-liners with which you preface your chapters!) but just wanted to say I'm cock-a-hoop about a new UC chappie - can't wait to read it.  As I've said before, and will no doubt say again, I adore your writing and lap up everything you write like a thirsty vampire in a blood bank - can't get enough .... no, really, I CANNOT GET ENOUGH!!

  13. Good afternoon Shay,

I have read each all of your stories save one, Hide and Drink. I get  you, at least I think I get you and for that reason I find no fault. You write about hard subjects: child abuse (Offside), slavery (CBWR), I have a fear of the sea so you can imagine how tense I was reading Surviving Bella...that was tough, trust but worst was the life of an alcoholic and his messed up youth, too close for comfort!! Judging Books was one of your most interesting and sweetest stories IMHO, UC is no different. I wonder if those making the negative remarks has done as much research as you have showing us how things were done back then albeit being fictionalized?

You write about subjects that whether we like it or not, are close to home. Your Edward's are some of the most messed up guys in FF!! But you make it interesting. You make us think and feel...unfortunately some feel it a little to personally thus the negativity.

Here's a thought...if you don't like it, don't read it...if you don't like the show change the channel, if you don't like peaches go past the tree...you know what I mean?

I can't stomach the negativity so I don't read it...yes people are entitled to their opinions but like you've mentioned before 'People who TRUST YOU will go along for the ride' but buckle up people because it's a bumpy one!!

You did swear not to leave us hanging and once again I trust you to your word.  Doesn't mean it won't be hard to post after all of this but don't forget...there is more of the 'positives' out there rooting for you.

    Stay true Shay!!

    Best,
    Jolie

  17. I am so sick of the negative  comments on some of the blogs!    You were right to tell that one person to "fuck off!"  If they don't like the story, don't read it!  It's very simple!

As for the rest of us, who adore this story, thank you for continuing on, even if it has been a challenge for you!  I loved the teaser, and look forward to the next chapter!

    Thanks, bb....

  20. Spoilers below, read at your own risk...lol

Shay, OMG I read the latest update. Thats what im talking about girl! Excellent! Im so glad i enjoyed it so much! Edward stopped going back to Angela, thank fucking God...lol. Isabella snapped to the fucker when he said he would take Jessica and keep Bella as his concubine. Huh... the selfish mothafucker lol, as if the poor girl hasnt been through enough for him and his people. And finally the damn fucking fucker of all the fuckers, the almighty TEA! Im hardly waitng for Edwards reaction. I want it to be a good one, i want him to go all american psycho on all the fuckers. Jane you bitch, Bella should have left you there for all the Aro's army to screw you, you ungrateful bitch! Im all for opening the contest how to torture Jane...lol. Im sorry im feeling so many emotions right now, emotions I was afraid i would not experience again. I will gladly overlook some stuff I didnt like in your previous 2 chapters, because my dear you made up for it. Please you should update soon, please. I have 1 question though, if you can answer. I didnt understand this:

"She was not supposed to speak of it," he mumbled. "Obviously she is unable to bear children, or she…"

or she what? Please what did he mean, i hate it when there are incomplete sentences like that, it drives me mad. Please what did Edward mean? Did he maen: or she should be with child by now? If it is this, then it was about time the fucker (literally speaking...lol) finally GOT IT...lol

  21. I've never posted a review, there are stories
out there that I've loved and others that couldn't
hold my attention. Every single one of yours has
not only caught my attention but has left me
craving for more. This story though it
holds the crown for me above all. I have read
others reviews to this story as well as your
responses and felt the need to express
some of my own. First and formost it upsets me
that a talented writer such as yourself actually
has to explain her reasons for her own creative
rights. I've read many books, stories and fanfics
and the ones that stick out for me are the ones that
get such an emotion from me that I have to actually
put down the book and go back to it when I
had time to process what I am reading. Stories that
light a fire within, that twist my emotions and make
me feel something. This story does just that. A couple
of times I was left stunned and angry and hurt, but oh
so thrilled that their is someone outthere that is willing
to explore beyond the ever so safe happy all the time
characters, and plot line thats something would find in
my childs book. I have a story that is stuck it my head
and plays out perfectly there, yet when I try to translate
from my head to my fingers there is a wall and I end up
deleting everything, so I can understand how a
story can frustate you. I hope you grasp what for writting
means to some of us, I go to chemo once a week four times
a month each session takes me five hours, I bring my laptop
with me and read your stories, they make the time pass,
my soul light and a laugh from my lips every once and awhile.
Thats what should matter, what does matter. These are
the things that should be said to you, nothing else about
how you should have done this, or can you tell me what
happens next, or outing what they think will happen next
(damnit I didn't even think to blame the tea and a reviewer
fucked that up for me). I do not know why your getting such
fucked up reviews but I do have a theory about those people who
review with nothing but complants and bitching; those who can,
write as you, and those who can't review like assholes.

  24. Oh, you are too nice sweetie. I would just tell them to FUCK OFF. Period.

Anyway, I'm behind on your posts but I just read the UC chapter and I swear I read the ending like 3x 'cause I'm just so happy it's out there :) The anticipation is killing me now but I know it will be worth it.

  25. Hide and Drink is the very best one of all. Trust me. I've done two reviews of it on my blogs so go there and see what an important, challenging and original story it really is. http://twocaptives.blogspot.com/  and  http://twilightirruption.blogspot.com/2011/08/hide-and-drink-reading-edward-through.html  and I have one up on CaraNo's Isla de Cullen  http://twilightirruption.blogspot.com/  and another waiting to go up.

IMO and I have vast reading experience, I really do, Hide and Drink is the best fanfic I have read so far. It is far above all the rest.

  26. You already know what I think of your writing, so here goes.

I think you have trouble with UC because you are now following a template of B/E and producing seduction, sex and plot. Forcing it. A part of you doesn't want to do it and resists. You are willing it, and as soon as you will, resistance comes into play.

And I don't think you had that problem at all with H/D. I think you were in the land of seduction and drawn into the story. I think much of it flowed from your unconscious or it couldn't flow the way it does.

For example, I spent a lot of time thinking about the sex. It was repetitive and well, anxious sex on the part of Edward. So I wondered for awhile whether it was gratuitous or not. When I decided it wasn't, here's why:

Edward becomes an addict when his instincts take over. This we know. His behavior and words repeat and repeat, because he is perseverating. This is what happens with brain damage and Edward's brain is now damaged by the chemical change in his DNA. So of course his sexual practices would also repeat and not be creative or adventurous as then he would be out of character. It is Bella who gets up on all fours and it is Edward who wants to kick himself for not thinking of it before. So this is very nice. And I wonder if you were over thinking all this or just going with the flow?

And that is what's missing in UC and why I have stopped reading. It's sort of like a Hollywood costume drama from the 50's. Scaramouche? Janet Leigh and Stewart Granger? That kind.

SB is quite good in lots of places but falls apart at the end as the plot intrudes and wind up time has to be observed. This is what is excellent about Hide and Drink. You don't tie the ends up like a good girl. Neither does life.

I would love to see H/D as a graphic novel and an animated film like Scanners. Not sure if that would be possible for you. Would it?

  27. Unexpected Circumstances Chapter 29 is fabulous!  I can't wait till the poison is out of Bella's system and she becomes pregnant with Edward's child!   Esme will love being their babysitter!
