Here is your chance...

Unexpected Circumstances spoilers!  Don't read if you don't want to hear what's going on.

For all those who seem to want to get everything off their chest here as opposed to the places provided for this (reviews, PMs, the forums) - this is your very own blog post so you can comment all you like on what you think of what is going on  It will be contained here and no one else has to read, it as a few of you like to point out.   But since you're commenting on my vacation posts, Offside posts, or my kid's soccer game, it's hard to skip them.  This will make it easier for those who come to my blog for other reasons to avoid this.

Yes, he fucked her.  No, he didn't have a choice.  No, he doesn't want to.  Yes, Bella is coping because she has no choice but to cope.  No, Angela doesn't hate either of them. No, Bella doesn't hate her husband.  No, she doesn't hate her friend.   Where did all this "best friend" shit come from?  I never wrote that anywhere. "Life-long" doesn't equal "best".  Even in canon Alice was always her "best" friend.  See what happens when you skim? :)

I'm tempted to write a "UC AU" outtake on what would have happened if Edward had done what a lot of people said he *should* have done, and told Aro to go fuck himself.  THAT would be a graphic story with warnings at the top!  It would also have the same number of survivors as your average horror movie.  Bella would be one of them, though she would wish she wasn't.
Feel free to comment on UC all you like right here.  Please discontinue commenting on my other, UC irrelevant posts about UC.

Thanks!

  1. Tried to get on the forum this am and couldn't...so here I go.

I can't say I'm disappointed in Edward but I can say I feel sorry for them both.  I will never be able to understand that kind of obligation except only to my kids.  Would I take a bullet for my child? Yes.  Would I do what Edward was forced to do for my kids?  Yes.

While I'm saddened by the events, this is your story Savage and I support you.  If I wanted happy endings and things tied up in neat little packages, I wouldn't be reading a fic with your name in the banner.  The twists and turns are what keep me a loyal reader and I'll be here until the end.  It is intended as a compliment that readers get so invested in your characters that they care this much.

    O-H!!

  2. I kind of liked how it was intercourse between Angela and Edward .. He just 'spilled his seed "in it .. I was not considering it. I loved it. It was amazing. I cannot even feel bad for him to do that .. I think they have to take a good one. Really, the worst situation is Angela. She is now interested in a knight, I do not want her to die more. They'll get over it. It's so fast and impersonal what makes Edward, Bella should put his knee on the floor and raise your hands and thank the heavens, could definitely be worse. overcome this, I want see what Jane will bring. And until Chapter 40, many people will still nagging, Savage! Do not connect to them. And please do not abandon the story for them.

  3. I kind of cringed last night when I read......you know the part, but I am glad that Edward had that reaction and I am glad that Esme set it up the way she did.  Her body completely covered, even her face, only one "area" was exposed and I am sooooo glad that Edward had to help himself get it up!  If it had to happen, I am relieved it happened the way it did.  I know we all wish there was a way out of it, but there wasn't.  My stomach felt the way Edwards did and it still does because evidentally it did have to happen more than once...at least that is what I got from the teaser.  I feel bad for all 3 of them.  Yes Edward did make alot of mistakes and he knows that he did...but who doesn't.  We are human  and do make mistakes and some have to pay dearly for those mistakes.  One thing I wish was that Edward made love to Bella after, kind of a cleansing if you will for both of them.  I know some people feel that if it was done and Angela doesn't get pregnant then they will be really pissed off because it was for nothing, but it was done and now I would rather that Angela doesn't get pregnant and Bella does. I think him having to do that and then Bella having to raise the child as her own would just continue with the hurt for both of them. It would be a constant reminder.  So they need to find out about the tea, which we all think is the culprit and move on and get our girl Bella pregnant ok ladies!  That would make me feel better.  Hey Savage you did good no matter what some say. It was done in a way that at some of us can handle
    thank you!!

  4. I love love your work... but reading about a man having children with another woman other than his wife is very hard for me to read..... I could only have one so my extremely ex-husband went out and had 2 more with some one else - yes because he wanted more than one and yes while we were married - so all this hits just a little close to home for me.... I have to see these kids regularly as they are family to my son and it nearly kills me every damn time - they are beautiful, lovely girls, its just hard - the irony is I had the bastards only son... oh and that I am the only idiot to have married him !

I want to read it, I really do and I will...... eventually,  but to be perfectly honest I am shit scared - its the images that get conjured in my head that are the hardest....I haven't commented elsewhere about this - its your story and I not only respect that but I admire you : )

  5. hey woman...i don't reallly read UC. I have skimmed and then read the last 3 chapters before this one.  I love your work, but I am not into knights, kingdoms, etc too much.  I just wanted to say, what I say when a story has controversy, it is your perogative, your story, your plot, your characters, and your vision.  It is not all beds of rose petals and sweet nothings in the ear for some stories.  There is trials, tribulations, assholes, and other roadblocks in the road to love and happy endings sometimes.  That is your niche and I love it.  Awesome thinking on giving people a place to vent their frustration.

  6. I love your fics savage but unfortunately as in all things there will always be naysayers, you're doing an amazing job on a very upsetting subject and with characters people are so invested in, myself included. Keep doing what you're doing and I for sure will keep reading!! Don't stop doing what you are obviously so talented at!!

  7. Wow -- I wouldn't want to read that outtake! Throne sex yes, massacare, no....
I'm amazed at the number of people who have completely missed the point -- they are all doing it out of duty (Edward, Bella, Angela) and to ultimately protect the people of Forks. I'm not saying it doesn't suck (because it *REALLY* does), but they are none enjoying it, that is for sure...

Love, love, love you Savy. I think our heartache isn't over (by a long-shot), but I'm hopeful things will eventually get better for this ExB!

  8. I like the new chapter and especially the touching way, in which you describe Edward's breakdown and the conversation of Bella and Angela, who put the interest of the people and their friendship above the dire circumstances. I think that the plot turn with the concubine is logical and I am looking forward to reading how the story will unfold.
I don't understand the angst about the story. I understand that the readers are invested in the story, but they can't blame you, because it is your story to tell and a proper warning has been given not only with the rating and genre, but also in the summary. I also don''t understand this reaction, because there are stories with a lot more angst and/or where Edward does much worse things, but the reaction is nothing like this. This is probably due to the large number of people reading. Besides some people use the situation to upset and discourage a top writer. This angst is even stranger, because the characters accept the concubine situation better than the readers lol. I think I see this for the first time.
I just hope that the irrational reaction and the demagogy won't affect you and make you dislike fanfiction. I like your stories the way they are and I wish you could ignore all that drama and continue doing what you do so well. :)

  9. I Think UC is a great story. I dont understand why people bitch and complain about certain parts of it. It's a story after all... not real life and not imposed upon you to read. Wouldnt be easier to just stop reading? I thoroughly enjoy it and i always look fwd to more no matter how angsty it might get. I am now for example, looking fwd to the discovery of the "bad tea" IF indeed is the tea that's not letting Bella get pregnant. Keep up the good work.

  11. wellll, you could have really upset people by  humanizing the sex between Angela and Edward, instead of kind of making her into his object/ receptacle. i guess that would push the envelope a bit too far for some people, but it might prove interesting from a deeper psychological viewpoint-- so you didn't really go as far as you could have--that would have been really jumping off a cliff, maybe something to think about someday if you really, really, want to be evil.

  12. I personally do not like reading stories humo /romance, I like drama/romance and angst/romance, I love reading UC , but I have to say that since the Chapter 23 I have would   thought if I continue to follow this story or not, and with anguish I decided to read chapter 26 and I have to say that did not disappoint me,  was great to see the side of Edward and for whom  was very concerned about cheating, had to be sure how much it affects him and the kills .
I do not know the real cause of their infertility, but hopefully it will soon be solved.

  13. Uh, I thought UC was a comedy - a satire on period fic. After about five chapters I realized it wasn't meant to be funny. That's the only reason I flounced. I'll admit, I'm not up to date on the story, but I don't think Edward being forced to copulate with Angela makes UC a "cheating fic."

Best of luck with this story!

  14. What I don't understand is why people keep calling it cheating!  To cheat is to deprive of by trickery or deceit..to practice trickery or fraud.  Edward was up front with what he had to do.  He didn't go behind Bella's back and try to get someone else pregnant.  They are in this together there was no trickery going on...maybe by Aro or whoever came up with the tea idea but please stop saying Edward cheated on Bella because that was not what happened.  Yes I totally understand people not liking a story about cheating because it may have happened to them but that is not what this story is about.

    thanks

  15. I understand don't like don't read, but when readers invest so much time in a fic and the end result is devastating and the readers begged for it not to take that turn, those kind of reviews are acceptable. I think you are a great author. I love your other works, but this is not one that I will continue with. I don't find it researched well. Angela is a virgin. They would have picked a woman who has already bared children, knowing she could do so. No doctors or midwives were consulted. By Bella not asking to be examined by one and not seeking alternatives shows that she is a doormat. Most of all Edward trust very few people, so why trust Angela? I don't like that you told us to trust you when in the end when the outbreak was heartbreaking. Sadly, the fandom is not what it use to be and everything is all about popularity. You wrote something shocking and now it's popular. Congrats! (insert sarcasm) The characters are not the same anymore and I can't even imagine reading about them being intimate again. If I had know this was going to be a cheating fic, I never would have read it.

  16. So I really contemplated commenting or not. I feel like I have been a fan of your writing for long enough that I owed you my reasoning for not continuing to read UC. Honestly, I wish I could continue to read becuase this was one of those fics that I dropped everything to read when it udpated. I cannot read a fic where Edward (or Bella) has committed adultery- regardless of circumstance. There is no justifiable reason in the world for me. I understand in this time frame it was commonplace and accepted, but MY brain and heart are hardwired for the here and now. So this truely is the "it's not you, it's me" speech because its ME that cannot continue. I respect you as an author, and it is your right to take your characters on whatever path you choose, I just can't go on the journey with them any longer.

  17. Wow this is a really heated discussion here. I have to say that I love this fanfiction BECAUSE it is the way it is. It's authentic and original. I am so sick of all those fanfic where bella and edward fall in love at first sight or, my personal favourite, edward leaves, comes back and bella welcomes him back without questioning anything.
This story from the very beginning was not how it's supposed to be in a pink, bright and shiny fairytale. You have to think about what kind of stories you would like to read.

I don't like where this is going either. I feel bad for them but I understand why it has to go this way. Sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do. And edward is not cheating! what is wrong with you people? Cheating is when you hide that you are with someone that isn't your girlfriend/wife. edward discussed it with bella. He told her what possibilities they had and even suggested they could go away. Cheating is about throwing away your partners trust. It's searching for something you don't have in your relationship with someone else. It's willingly going out for someone else and it's not like that in UC.

This story is not about black and white. It's not love or hate, peace or war, right or wrong. There are grey areas! Open yourself to the possibility that things that seem completly wrong can be the only solution.
I don't often find stories like UC and that is why I write this comment. I feel the need to defend it. I simply love that I have no idea where the story is going. Think about it. Most stories are so predictable is annoys me to no end. I always look forward to updates from UC. I think savage thought about where she wants the story to go very much. We should trust her and look forward to what life holds for bella and edward.

The only thing that gets me a little mad is that bella takes it like a lamb ready to be sacrifized. We experience the story from her point of view but I feel like I know more about Edwards feelings to all this than Bellas. She doesn't have to tell him this, but I'd think we would get more out of her since we are "inside" of her. Just a thought.

Seriously stop that black and white thinking. It's not like real life works.

Please don't question your story and keep writing it the way you want. This is your baby. Don't change anything because others don't like it. It is what's in your head and it has to come out and I am happy to be on the recieving end of this :)
Really love all your stories so far. Keep it up

    xxx Mary

  18. People People People it is just a story for Christ Sakes!  Bella is don't what any good noble wife would have done in this situation! She is standing by her husband for the good of his people in his kingdom,  She is not being a door mat she is being a GOOD NOBLE WIFE.  Once again it is only a story and Savage you are doing one fine job I will be there for the last word of this story.  Can can't wait for the next story there "love"

  19. there is not such a worse thing than Edward "cheating" in whatever circumstances when you read a twilight fic story. If you still remember Edward and Bella of twilight are bound by trust and loyalty. Whatever happens they would first die than be with other people. Yes in other fic Edward is a thief, serial killer, mafia prince, a playboy, but 1 thing he isnt for sure, is betraying Isabella while being in a committed relationship with her. Thats why this fandom reacts this way. I know there is an angst warning in the summary, but angst can have 1000 shades and shapes. I love authors who put canon and non-canon pairing as a warning, then i know I read at my own risk.

  20. Now this is the kind of comment I love!  Not the praise for the story (though I like that, too), but saying you feel you understand Edward more than Bella, even though it's from her POV.

I seriously struggle with writing from BPOV.  It's at least part of the reason why I'm using it here, because I'm not too good at it, and I want to improve.  This is also part of the reason I haven't posted the second half of the chapter - because her emotions are seriously lacking, and I'm trying to improve it.  I'd love to hear more ideas on what exactly I could do to improve Bella's perspective and get her side of things clearer to the readers.

    Thanks so much!

  21. make  her lose her godamn mind for a second there. Make her vulnerable in edwards eyes just for a second there. Make her being concerned with her feelings for 1 second there before getting all upset for other people. For example. she asked angela about what happened and I seriously was waiting for some kind of reaction on the deed, not that the main concern was Angela being handled with care and the regret she didnt have any pleasure????? It was the first time dam it, she was supposed to break down more than that.If Edward has to do it again, i dont want her to take it like a normal routine and enjoy her morning tea-s with Angela. No. im still a little upset she is the one to have all the burden in this situation, like everybody excpects her to be cool with it for the sake of the kingdom. what about her sanity? I understand if it had to be 1 time occurence, but living under the same horror for months and years, i honestly would not understand it if she stays calm and sane. JMO

  22. Please forgive me - I think my post has been taken the wrong way.  I shouldn't post when I haven't slept well. :)  I was really just trying to point out in my lame, sarcastic way that things could be a lot worse.  Sorry if I did that poorly. I'm definitely not one to be too "prissy" about anything (not really sure what you mean by that), and didn't intend it to sound that way.  This was mostly directed at those who have been hijacking my blog and making the comments of every single post into a UC discussion.  That has annoyed me.  Not the comments themselves, but where they were being posted.

I do have to say though, because I don't tend to read forums or pay attention to what's going on in " the fandom," I had absolutely NO IDEA before posting chapter  24 that so many people would have the reaction they did.  I was unaware that going this direction would be considered cheating by anyone.  I didn't see it that way, and it honestly never crossed my mind others would.  I knew it would be chocked full-o-angst, but I never thought it would be labeled infidelity.  I was really quite shocked.  This ties into a lot of people saying I should have had an "cheating warning" on the first chapter.  How could I, when I never considered that anyone would think of this as cheating?

I seriously considered - given some strong reactions - making a plot change.  I compared how many seemed okay with where things weere going vs. those who obviously were not.  I also looked at who was making the comments, what kind of comments they had made before (if any), and if it was someone who I had discussed already posted parts of the story, and what had been discussed.  I went over the plot, what was already out there, and what was left to come.  I decided (after discussing with several people) to keep things as they were always intended to be.  For me, the rest of the story fell apart without this development.  Everyone will just have to wait until it's done to decide if they agree or not. :)

Thank you for you comments - and I apologize again if my comments came off more harsh than intended.

  23. I am finding the reviews and the back and for bashing between the writer and readers more interesting than the story! I don't care for over the top angst but that is what author is known for. I don't follow her stories, not my bag, but I do like the short stories and one shots. The smack on twitter today made me take a look. Still not my kind of story but I think there is a lot od asumptions on both the readers and writer. No author is going to change a storyline because readers don't like ehat's happening, Silly for any to think that it will happen. I also think the author mijudged her fan base thinking they will accept anyting she writes. Let's face it, E and B are beloved characters, no one wants to see this kind of trauma, hence the harsh reviews, the author defending her story, and the crazy tweeting. Personally, I love it all, it's what makes the fandom what it is. Very entertaining!

  24. Lara - honestly, your hostility over the past few days has given all of your posts a bitter tone.  I can't really consider anything you have offered as true advice or an effort to improve what I'm writing.  Changing the way the character feels is not my intent - I'm looking at a way to better convey the feelings she actually has.

I understand you are upset, and really think you need to step back away from all of this - the story, the postings, everything.  You seem to be taking it too seriously, and I don't think that's healthy for you. UC just isn't worth the kind of anxiety you have displayed. I'm not saying this to be nasty at all - I really do think this isn't good for you.  Please consider closing your browser and maybe renting a movie or something to take your mind off of this.

  25. At first I wasn't going to read the update but then caved (as is always the case).  While my first thought was I might need a "in-flight sickness bag" it really wasn't as bad when I sat down & read through it again. Yes he fucked her. No, I didn't want him too & was hoping that he would get Seth or Ben to do it for him & then just pass the baby off as his. Royal cover-up kind of thing. But when I read Angela's description I had to admit that if he did have to fuck her he did it in the best way possible.  Can we really consider it fucking her if all he did was stick his dick inside at the last moment & inseminate her?  We all know that he jacked off to images of Bella in the corner so he could get it up.  She was completely covered and I'm assuming Edward was pretty much clothed as well. He never touched her nor spoke to her during the entire ordeal. Overall I think they all did the best they could in a bad situation.  Can't wait to read what happens next.  Great job!

    ReplyDelete
  26. The confirmation that Edward fucked Angela as you so tactfully put it is upsetting enough without the supposed justification that it is not cheating. It's cheating, no matter how it is justified in the fictional world of Pluto. My stomach actually heaved at Bella comforting Edward. To me, it is virtually impossible now for a HEA and no reason for me to continue. I am from the school of angst is OK if there is a HEA. That's not happening now. Looking forward to your next story though as long as there is no cheating. I have to draw the line there.

  27. Savage I respect you as an author, I have loved every fic you have ever written and I honestly think UC was my favorite. With that being said, I cant read it anymore...I know my opinion doesnt mean alot and what I say here Im saying it not trying to be mean, just letting you know how devestated I am at how it turned out. I for one think Bella should have been so much more angry than she was. I mean here her husband just went and screwed a friend of hers and she was concerned with how Angela didnt get any pleasure!!! I mean OMG...what woman in her right mind would be concerned with how her husband screwed another woman? I do also believe with all my heart that Edward had a choice. He could have said no, he could have payed Angela off and when she never ended up pregnant he could have said well hell it must be me and take loosing the throne for the love of his wife. But he didnt, his throne was more important. I cant imagine Bella and Edward being together and having the love and passion that attracted me to this story after his betrayl. And it was not only him betraying Bella it was Carlisle and Esme as well. How she can let Esme comfort her after knowing she had a hand in what happened is beyond me. Anyway I wish you the best of luck and like I said I know that my decision to leave doesnt amount to shit, just wanted to give my opinion.

  28. I posted these thoughts over on twilighted thread, but i wanted to add them here b/c i love a good story.  UC is a good story and i feel the need to defend it.

    So - food for thought:
Romeo could have waited 5 more minutes before drinking that poison...Tony could have done a little more digging to find out if Maria was really dead...Heathcliff should have stuck around to hear the second half of Katherine's statement...Scarlette O'hara should have figured out she was in love with Rhett sooner and told him...shoulda, woulda, coulda...The best stories are SUPPOSED to break our hearts, make us angry, make us smile and sigh - THAT's why they're the BEST.Whether we agree with the character's actions or not - or whether we think that they should have handled things a different way that would have made more sense, doesn't really matter. It is what it is. Enjoy the emotions, and hope for the best ending possible. To those who are jumping ship from this story, I think you're depriving yourself from reading what will probably be a satisfying conclusion. It's like walking out of a horror movie half way through scared sh_ _less. You have to see the end - see the killer die and the good guy win - so that feeling of fear is replaced with reassurance.Just my two cents...Hate that Edward had to do it...REALLY hate that he is too emotionally stunted to comfort his wife for once...BUT I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!

  31. i don't visit the threads or twitter. i visit a few facebook pages, but would much rather be reading.

only true complaint i have is that bella seems to be taking it all... who is her rock to lean on... esme may have helped angela get ready, but i felt she only gave bella more of a guilt trip. alice cant be that rock as she is pregnant and that would cause more problems.  i was glad to see that edward and bella were not imtimate right after...he did belong in the dog house sleeping with the dogs...

this is your story...keep it coming and i'll keep coming back

    ReplyDelete
  32. Jeez...get over it!  It's fiction and it's not cheating. She knew exactly what he had to do and she told him to.  He didn't sneak around and do it.  That would be cheating.  Savage also said she was not following any certain timeline so how do you know what should or shouldn't be happening.  I guess it is not your cup of tea...it's not Bella's either I guess because it's making her infertile. Just saying ok?

    ReplyDelete
  33. I really like your comments about UC and agree whole heartedly!

    ReplyDelete
  34. For those who keep mentioning how it's not cheating just because it's not behind the other spouses back. I get it, it wasn't considered cheating back then,  because back then women had no rights and the men came up with that crap! do you think if it were the other way around it couldn't be considered cheating and they would allow it and not try to come up with another way? and just because a spouse knows that their partner is going to have sex with someone else during their marriage and is ok with it, doesn't mean that other person isn't cheating, because they are. Cheating is when the other person you are married to has sex with someone else that is not their spouse and if the spouse is ok with it, then they just don't care about cheating and allows it.

But that's not what I want to talk about. Yes I hate that Edward wasn't able to keep his promise to Bella(not having sex with another women) and him having to have sex with Angela(no matter have quick it was). I would have taken it better if it could have been someone they both didn't know(or should I say, wasn't a childhood friend of Bella's). I don't get why it had to be a virgin.

I have a huge problem with how both Angela and Bella are handling this. Put yourself in Angela's shoes, With how her first time went, How could she not feel used, disgusted, and humiliated? Having to spread her legs and having the queen put something up her vagina and then being covered up and knowing the future King is absolutely disgusted to have to do what he has to do with you. Gross!! Poor thing! She should have wanted to curl into a ball and cry after that. I don't know how it couldn't have been painful for her since she wasn't aroused. Yes she had lube, but a women still needs to be aroused so that her vagina will swell to not make it painful.

Then there is Bella, who right now I am disgusted with(I know, how could I be), Well I cant stand that she isn't showing enough emotion. No Anger, which she should! I love how you wrote Edward! You made me feel how much he loves Bella and how hard this is for him. I just wish I could say the same about Bella. For me she comes off as weak and pathetic instead of strong. I laugh at some of the comments who say she is so strong to be there for everyone and is so selfless and how they wouldn't be able to do that. Yeah well if Bella couldn't do it either, it wouldn't make her weak, it'd make her human having a natural reaction. I just cant see how Bella would be ok to see Angela right now and be all friendly so quickly after. As you mentioned, they aren't best friends, they just grew up together. So I don't see why she has to want to be their for Angela right now. I sure as heck wouldn't want to see Angela for awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hi Savage. I read chapters 25 and 26 two times and I think that since Isabella has been an abused servant for 16 years, that I am having a hard time with her being so strong for everyone. I don't expect her to act like a 21st century woman.  She shouldn't yell and scream either. But I felt she was so alone. Edward should be comforting her. I was would expect her to be more vulnerable. She was NOT raised as a noble and after only 2 years she can't just be this shoulder to cry on for everyone. She can't be Esme, who raised as a noble. Who is comforting her as she is so alone? Esme didn't even have to go through with what she does.  Anyway, I would like to see a more gradual change in her character as she grows.

  36. I kind of thought it had to be a virgin so there was no doubt it was Edward's child.

  37. I agree with a couple of your points Lara.  Edward realizing that his hasty decision to go to war with Aro really hurt the people of Forks and that in turn put him up against the wall where he had to hurt the love of his life or  risk hurting the people of Forks more that he already has.  I don't think it is the point of losing the throne which some people have said is his main focus, I think it is risking the lives of his people even more. I think if he were asked to give up the throne to save the people of Forks and his marriage he would do it in a heartbeat.  Maybe not the before Edward but this Edward would.
I also do not want to see Angela get pregnant.  That would be a constant reminder to Bella of what was done and of course what she thinks is her failure.  That would be torture for her and Edward.  His constant reminder of how he failed his wife...how he betrayed her.  If Bella can't get pregnant....maybe it's not the tea and just her, then we need another solution to the heir problem.

  38. I think the post sometimes get jumbled up a little...at least on my end they do

    ReplyDelete
  39. You did well with her crying by herself and then a little with Esme.  Alot of the other Bellas throw up to show how emotional she is about a situation and you did have her faint when he initially told her about the concubine but I think we need her to get a little pissed off!  Like maybe when she sees Angela going into the Womans room for that time. Or really break down in front of Edward. He really needs to comfort her and I think they should have been very emotional after she found him and had a really intense fucking!..just saying

    ReplyDelete
  40.   I agree with Lara that it might be time for Bella to break down a little. I don't
really have an issue with the fact that she didn't yet, because I think
her initial response was to be strong for everyone. Edward is kind of
losing it, and when someone you love reacts that way, I think your
tendency is to try to be strong for them.

But I can certainly see where this would get to be too big a burden for
her to bear and it makes sense that she would start to crack under the
strain. You said in an earlier post that Edward was weak due to his traumatic past. If Bella breaks down this may force Edward to realize he has to give her true emotional support and really take care of her (which I don't think he's really done yet) this will be the impetus he needs to try to overcome his issues to be strong for her and for his kingdom.

    ReplyDelete
  41. But Savage, Im confused now, because you say you write to stay true to your caracters and the situations they find themselves in. You Edward admitted he bertayed and failed his wife. So how come he thinks he betrayed her, and you think he did not, is not betrayal/cheating?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Because I am not Edward.  We don't think alike. :)  I'm not actually a character in the story, you see. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  43. But still you say you stay true to your characters, they are real. So if you think Edward thinks he betrayed his wife is right, which i am under the impression you made him realise that he really did betray both his people and his wife, than you should agree with what you write. Are you saying Edward was wrong to feel guilt and dread over what he did? Please, the main reason i got through this chapter was edward's reaction, the fact he was disgusted with what he did and that he felt like a dirty dog for betraying and humilating the most important person in his life.

    ReplyDelete
  44. You touched on it briefly in this chapter, her insecurity in being a failure herself. I think there would be more of that from her. I have a happy marriage, a graduate degree and a career I love, but when I found out I was infertile, nothing else had any value - I was a failure. (As an aside, my husband is also sub fertile, so it's not like it really was my "fault"). In a setting where her identity is wrapped up in being a wife and mother, I would think she'd start to feel a bit frantic. Her position was already precarious, but now it's even worse. Because as much as Edward loves her, if she can't have children, what IS her contribution?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Well, I have contemplated for over 24 hours if I was going to read it. I still haven't. I have read a some of your stories and posted reviews religiously. I have read everything under the sun from fluff, to BDSM, to drama, mystery, and angst. This is the only one I have ever had to actually question if I would continue. The only one that has become a *hard limit* for me and honestly I have read some messed up stuff.

Bella's character is too unrealistic to me and although your stories have usually portrayed a broken Edward, this one, I feel Bella is the one with the issues. She is more AU because humans don't behave this way. She is a robot ? Unfeeling ? Too goody two-shoes?

I had an email update for the story, but had yet to open still deciding if I wanted to read it immediately as I always have with your updates, or wait until you had posted a few chapters so that I could push through it. However, this post showed up in my Rss feeds and since I follow, I started skimming. Imagine my surprise to see Yes - he fucked her. No he didn't have a choice.

So the answer I had been perplexed over all this time was answered before I even read the chapter. Choices. There are always choices. We make them almost every minute of every day.

I felt compelled to post here although I have not read. I have not taken the time to read the reviews below either yet, because I want my immediate thoughts unswayed by others. This post and the way it was worded was not your normal snarky self. You have vented before, not too long ago when Hide and Drink was bashed and I posted there supporting you. I usually find your snarkiness humorous and a breath of fresh air sometimes. I have laughed out loud on many occasions at your words.

But this post, I interpreted as a "F*ck you - just get over it" kind of post and not just venting. You have always had my support, but this one was offensive to me. It is your right to feel just as we have that same right. We feel what we do, just as you feel the way you do. No need for anyone to get nasty about it. I am sure you have been pm'd and probably had some people say some ugly things to you. They should never be doing that either. Anyone can express opinions without being an ass.

Maybe I will read, maybe I won't especially knowing the answer before I even read it.

I feel sad not just because of the story path, but that I have actually had to back away. Your writing is thought provoking and emotionally all over the place. It means that I am human and I feel. It means that as an author you have what it takes to entrance your readers and make them feel like they are really there. That is a gift.

    Decisions....decisions....or better yet....choices.

    ReplyDelete
  46. But wouldn't they want someone that had proof that they could conceive?

    ReplyDelete
  47. SAD. Cant fix this now. Bella is a tool. Over and done. You have obviously have never been cheated on. There is no happy ending now..... No matter how talented a writer you are.

    ReplyDelete
  48. So....thanks for letting us know it did actually happen...better to know, than to build up hope just to have it dashed. It's difficult to know what to say cos I know technically it's not cheating...but he's still putting his dick into another woman..so it feels like it kwim? Anyway...I feel like a bit of a failure right now..cos I said I would always read your stories no matter what you wrote and I always have...I've loved the rollercoaster. That said...I always felt that whatever you threw at our beloved couple, that you wouldn't 'go there'..ie whats happening now with Angela...so It always felt safe to read. I know this is just a story...but I get pretty involved with them...and I particularly love your stories...I do get emotionally invested in them...I mean...if I don't care what happens to Bella and Edward..why would I read right?
Anyway...I respect you immensely as a writer..and you should write whatever comes into your fabulous brain..I would never try to sway you.
I think I'm going to put this story to one side and try my absolute best not to think about it anymore cos it's hurting my heart quite a bit. I'm goint to make you shudder with horror now...cos I know you hate doing this yourself...but I'll read the last chapter...if the pay off is great...if they get their total HEA then I might...just might be able to read the rest...it's the only way I would be able to read it...if I knew that they had total joy at the end. Unlikely though I think...I'll hope.
I'm off on my hols tomorrow...Cyprus...lounging by a pool for two weeks...should put it all into perspective...lol
    Good luck with this story!

  49. Keep writing what you initially wanted to write.  I do not like what is currently happening, but I am willing to wait it out.  IT IS FANDOM.  Do I want you to stop the madness and make Bella pregnant?! OF COURSE.  But when in comes down to it, you will finish your work the way you intended because that's how you envisioned it.  I can imagine you are being asked repeatedly to stop your current path because it hits close to home or they just don't like it.  Well you know what...boo hoo.  It hits close to home for me too.  I have read stories from PUBLISHED authors (not that you're not worthy) that I do not agree with, but they will not change their plot.  Just because we get to comment during the process doesn't change that fact.  This is your Fic.  Stay true to your heart.  I am a loyal reader, and will continue to be.  Edward hated the position he was forced into, BUT it was his DUTY to his people.  There is a reason it is called ANGST everyone.  Don't turn your backs.  Love you and all your writing methods!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. The thing is. I think Bella acts on the inside like she wants to act on the outside. She takes it. What has to be done has to be done. But she is a person. It has to cost her so much strength to "share" her husband. To think he goes to someone else in the nights. We don't get to know much about her internal battle. For example, she could go to the garden when he goes to Angela, because it is too hard sleeping in their bed knowing where he is.
We see Edward break down a lot and I get that you want to show people that he is repulsed by what he has to do it but has no other chance. You show him like a person but Bella on the other hand seems a little cold and uneffected.
Let Edward be there for her at some point. At the moment it's always Bella being there for Edward. Maybe next time when he comes back from Angela he could find her somewhere, all her pretenses washed away, breaking down.
If you dont't want Edward involved in this. You could let her get it out when she is alone. Maybe throwing a some things around in their room or something.
In general her attitude towards Endward could be more like: it hurts but I am willing to endure it. At the moment she just shows him : it's ok.
Let them talk. They love each other and they talk about a lot of things. Maybe sit them in their chair and let them talk about it. And there Bella can let her feelings out.
Edward has to think at the moment that this is nothing for Bella, but he knows it's not like that so I don't think it would hurt if Bella trusted him with her feelings.
You have to be careful that you don't lose Belas character in your mission to make your readers understand Edwards feelings on all this.
For example when she saw Angela for the first time you could have let her hesitate to be so understanding. Showing her internal battle weather to be concerned for her friend or angry for her husband.
In my opinion though it is not enough to let her suffer alone in her head. She has to take her anger and hurt to the outside in one way or the other. A little struggeling with her fate won't take away her strength in enduring all this.
I hope this helps a little bit since I don't know what's going to happen I realize this is more advice for what should have been but I hope you can get something out of it.

  54. Hey there!  This post definitely came off a lot more harsh than I really intended it to.  I apologize for that.  I think I was still a bit perturbed when I wrote it, and my "how will this be taken?" filter got turned off.  I tend to be a little sarcastic, and I don't always come off the way I mean to.  You are absolutely right, this wasn't my normal self.

    WTF?  Meter, check
Common sense regarding FanFiction...I admit I had to *skim* many of these posts--tldr. The reality is once again that the fandom is a place full of entitlement.  When you go to the book store, buy a book bc it looks interesting, then something happens you don't like, I'm pretty sure most don't send the author a letter letting them know how misguided they are. You think, " well shit, that didn't go where I thought it was going...." and move on. That's the normal thing to do. But for some reason, in this fandom, where fic is posted for free and authors write for peanuts-- it's become acceptable to bash an author when things don't go our way. Twitter/Facebook/other social media outlet- have become jam packed with bitches, rants and moans about how a RECREATIONAL writer did something you don't like. " booo, so and so took their fic down..."  and " I can't believe writer X didn't give me the plot I wanted..."its time to stop being self entitled, ego maniacs and look at the big picture. Find something worthwhile in you life and stop measuring your self worth by the misery you can bring to others.

  56. Hey Savage, this is a great idea. You've invoked so many feelings with this story. Probably enough to write a freaking best-selling novel. Ha ha.

I have come to terms with the fact that they had to do it. I even had a pretty good ideal of what would happen had they turned Aro down. That's not to say that I don't like it. I don't think anyone would want to read it if it were full of carnage. Well I still would...bring on the body parts. Yeah, that was in poor taste.

I knew Angela was not Bella's best friend. They just knew each other very well. I'm really not even sure Alice is best friends with Bella in this story. If I recall that was never really mentioned either. I know they share a bond. I think it is due to the fact that they are family now.

I am shocked to read that some people skim. Hell I read it all. Sometimes twice before I review and usually about an hour later go...."Wow, I really wish I would have said something about that in my review." I like to pick it apart in my head long after I've read it.I think this site is going to come in handy for that. :) To the people that are skimming.....you miss SO much. Why bother reading it if you are just going to skim?

One last thing before I close...Unless you have disabled the review bar at the bottom of your chapters on FF.Net that is where my review will go. Old habits die hard. So....I really don't give a shit if people read my reviews. In fact I have a group of friends who actively search for mine. Go figure? At first I was kinda weirded out by it. Now it doesn't bother me so much.

  58. I was just reading through some of the comments posted here and some of them are just...frustrating to say the least.   I've been cheated on too. Move on.  People getting pissy because you think the writer isn't being nice in her blog post??? Are you really serious??? We as readers are given places to leave a reviews or comments and here you're bitching because she's on HER blog doing a little venting people???  Come on. Get over it.  Savage, keep up the amazing job you have been doing and please continue with your story as you have .  After all, it's your story .

  59. What I'd like to see, and maybe I've missed this, is for you to explain the plot holes I'm seeing pop up all over the place. For me, a good story is marked when the author can answer the questions of their fans, so far I've only seen them avoid. So Savage, I'd like to know.

    1. Why was a midwife not called in? Edward would know it's an option, even if Bella wouldn't, as would Esme. A midwife would have checked her out physically along with looking into her diet. If it is the tea, that would have been revealed.

    2. How can we expect after 25 Chapters of Edward to have NEVER stood up for his duty and made it a priority, to finally now. The entire time he has run from everything, went so far as to pick his wife by a game of chance to start a war. Your Edward would have ran had he stayed in character.

    3. Why was Angela chosen when it would have been more accurate for a woman who had already had kids to be chosen. When Angela doesn't get pregnant, there are now two places for blame, versus only one.

    4. What happened to the Edward who trusted no one? Who was so hell bent on revenge for who he *thinks* killed his parents? How can he so easily trust Jane, and even Angela---he was ready to kill a man for making Bella trip.

    5. How can Bella try to comfort Angela with talks of Ben? Not just because she won't be wanted if ruled barren, but she could spend her lifetime having girls.

    6. Given the rape of Edward's mother how could he be so cruel to Angela? If she truly had no choice, like you say, that is technically rape. When someone loses to ability to say no, they become violated. Which is what Angela was.

    7. Why did Bella get the play-by-play by Angela when she wouldn't want it. Instead, the girls were forced together without any real though of their feelings. Instead, Edward could have explained to Bella to comfort her as a way to show how the girls are treat differently.

    8. Why did Edward punish Bella for his choice. Laying with the dogs? Ignoring his wife? I thought he loved her? And the safe word? We got a glimpse of Assholeward from Ch 1, but he hasn't been that in several updates.

Now, there are more, but can you answer these?

You apologize for your post, but it's well known true feelings come out when you're not thinking, so I do believe this is how you truly feel. Personally, you ruined what could have been a great story with huge sized plot holes that could have been avoided. You want an open and honest discussion, I'd like any of this stuff to be addressed. If  this is how you always saw it, fine...but your characters shouldn't change to fit the plot. Instead, they should have evolved from the start. You, my dear, are a puppet master of this show, not telling the story from the characters with their honest and true reactions. If you did, they'd be more humanized. Back in the times or not, humans were still humans.

Another thing to consider is that you have failed to take responsibility as an author---you claim the characters had to do this. Well you wrote them that way---you made their choices, even if they make sense to no one else. That was all YOU as the author. So, you chose to write them that way---we didn't chose to read them that way. Blaming readers for what YOU did, blaming characters for what YOU did, doesn't make it less than what YOU did.

    ReplyDelete
  62. No apology necessary. I appreciate you answering and I understand that everyone can have bad days, but as I said, it's not something I'm a fan of. I'm a believer that it's the author's job to be the bigger person - when we publish something we put it out there and I understand everyone wants to be 'omg you can do no wrong! you're amazing etc etc' but that's not any more real than the reviews citing the opposite end of the spectrum and we have to have a BS radar to filter out the good, the bad and keep from getting too down on ourselves or letting our heads get too big. Every time I see an author call out a reviewer for not getting it, or withold chapters or not being 'mature' enough to get their vision or...threaten to write something worse it gets my heckles up and I appreciate that you didn't really mean it so that's fine. Perspective is a good thing and so is venting, so I understand but it is a two way street.
You really had no idea that a third person entering the marriage and Edward voluntarily trying to impregnate her would be considered adultery and cheating? Really? I actually find that pretty hard to believe but as I figure you wouldn't lie, I'm just staggered tbh that you didn't realise that or that someone else didn't mention that it's how it would look. I mean people can throw justifications about how he's just doing his duty, etc but he still has a choice and to be honest I can understand why people feel sucker-punched by it especially as his calm acceptance and wish to make Aro happy is so contrary to his character up until that point. He had a backbone about everything but that. I can definitely understand why some people would have liked a warning. I wouldn't have read a fic that had adultery in it and then had the wife calmly discussing with the other woman (who she grew up with and who has no history of baring children either) whether or not it was 'good for her' if I had been aware that was the way it was going to go down. People build up affections for the characters and to have that come out the blue is a blow after they have invested so much into them and their relationship. Again, as an author you are absolutely entitled to write the story the way you want to but as a reader you have to understand that we don't have access to your insight or reasoning and for us we've invested 20 odd chapters of watching a relationship grow only to throw a dramatic tool into the equation that pretty much taints the relationship that they'd been investing in. The bad guys have won no matter the outcome in this and that is why people are upset. It's just one of those things that I can understand why you wanted to do it, but you have to understand that saying 'well it's not really cheating so why would I warn anyone' doesn't really make sense. At the end of the day it is your story and your name on it. If you're happy with the way it's going then that is the main thing to concentrate on. I have a quote I like that says 'the strength of the criticism lies only in the weakness of the thing criticised.' If you believe in what you're writing then it shouldn't matter what the rest of us think or say about it.

  63. Personally, I disagree with all of you.  Yes, she wrote the story this way.  About the bedding Angela issue, maybe it was assumed in the skipped over seasons that they did take every other course of action with midwives and potions and etc. And when feels the characters have to do things, the characters do things.  And also IT IS JUST A STORY! Why people are personally attacking Savage, I have no idea and feel it is unnecessary.  Savage likes to write fanfiction and that's what it is, Savage's own personal twists on the Bella and Edward story with their own plot, so there is no reason to be rude.  If you don't like it, stop reading it and don't get your panties in a twist.

  64. Well, why don't you slap your loyal readers in the face with the blog entry you just posted.

I agree with what "GUEST"  wrote along with many other posters here. I will not repeat all the brilliant points made here today because I could not say it any better.

  65. No offense, but I read your update word for word so to assume I skimmed, is insulting. Don't blame me because I don't understand your story.

Your answers also don't make much sense to me either.

Doctors and midwives don't exist? In what world are we in? They hjave always existed. And, yes, I have a 21st century viewpoint, but these people weren't barbaric idiots with no brains or human emotions. I'd expect them to act human...shock or not, it's still not true to the psychology of human beings.

It's obviously that you think you've done well, for that I disagree, but if you go a few comments below...it's very obvious you didn't think this through. You said you didn't know what was going on in the fandom, just to turn around and say you considered changing it because of the reaction.

Changing it would have made more sense.

    ReplyDelete
  66. As a reader, I'm upset. As you said in your AN, I should be. Do I want to see Edward with another woman? Of course not. If he must, would I rather it be Angela rather than Jessica? Hell yes.

You tell your readers up front - if they can't handle a little angst and uncertainty, then your stories are probably not for them. Readers have to make a decision. I have put on my big girl panties and I'll deal, because I think the story is well written and true to the era. Life is not always sunshine and flowers. Sometimes, grown ups have to make grown up decisions - even in the ff world.

As a ff writer, I understand that readers are looking for an escape and want the HEA. Not all stories are going to fit that bill. If this one doesn't, there are thousands of others to pick from. Pick one. Don't yell at an author because they dont write their story the way you want it written.

That's the end of my rant. lol

  68. With the fail of FF Alert, I feel like the confused little old lady I am.  Whatsup?   Last time I looked, the story had a single author credit.  Let those who write, write,  and those who don't criticize.  Oh - they are ! !
Is this whole country nuts?  I grew up with a minority being scandalized and pushing their agenda and beliefs on everyone else.  They seem to be back.   Screw 'em.
When you write a story that no one reads, worry.  I doubt that will happen.

  69. Obviously you are missing lots of thing yourself. First, Edward accepted that both  the war and concubine is his own fault and his alone. Second, he admitted he betrayed both his people and his wife. 3. angela situation, Part of him being disgusted with himself and feeling like a dog is the way he went for it too, im sure about that. Even I was glad he went at it like that, still it was disturbing reading it. More, he feels like sheet not only because he sees Isabella's hurt, but because his actions led to this situation, first they led him to war and he was so arrogant to underestimate aro and lost, after it came to this because he reduced forks in a such miserable conditions, and even he has a concubine he hasnt solved shit yet, nothing, nada. aro wont stop at that, thats why Edward is working to get allies, if he would have done this a year ago, maybe he would have avoided this pain and humiliation to the most innocent person in this crap. Isabella. So, sorry for not seeing it the way you do and thanks for telling us what you see. Last, Savage is a good writer, we love her, no need to preach.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I don't understand your first point in rebut - please show me where I said Edward didn't accept the war and the concubine are his own fault? I said he feels guilty for all of this, and that he feels that he's let down his people and betrayed his wife - but his feelings on the matter, the feelings of any one character, often have little bearing on the *narrative* of a story - we often feel guilty for things that are out of our control, or are only partly our fault.

Edward can feel like he's cheating on Isabella without that actually being true. Perception is very personal. If you look at the *facts* of the story - Edward is not cheating. If you look at his feelings and guilt, he thinks that he is. Perception and fact often differ greatly.

You're also blaming Edward for not having more foresight - something most men are not gifted with. He underestimated Aro's forces once, and will not do so again. It has cost him and his people enormously. It was a mistake, but not necessarily something he should be castigated for because he was acting as best he could given the situation. Of course you CAN castigate him for it - like I said, perception and fact often differ - but blaming the narrative for being weak or somehow underwritten is where I get stopped up.

Edward's campaign for war existed before he even knew Isabella, let alone before she was the most important thing in the world to him. We all come to new relationships with the baggage of our pasts weighing on us - in this case, Edward's baggage is weighing on him.

So far as Isabella being innocent, yes, that's true - but do you know what she isn't innocent of? Trusting Jane. Because Isabella refused to see the real danger and suspicion surrounding Edward's life - his inability to trust those around him is not exactly unfounded, though he obviously takes it a step too far - she has let a traitor in their midst, and that decision is the reason Edward was forced to take Angela as his concubine. So if you want to twist this around to bad decisions being made with the best of intentions, Edward fucking Angela is actually Isabella's fault, because if she hadn't trusted Jane, she'd probably be pregnant by now.

    ReplyDelete
  71. nah, we have choices because we make them, and because we make bad ones we suffer the consequences, and we hurt people we love. to say por edward had no choice is naive. By the way i have never been cheated for what i know...lol and i dont project my own life here. I see it differently, so do you, but dont tell me i dont see it because im blind and im missing the point because im not preceptive or sharp enough. thats all.

    ReplyDelete
  72. oh and my perception is edward betrayed hi wife and broke his promise. Is it cheating at wgat degree, first or second it doesnt matter. morally he is a cheater. Thats how i see my point.

    ReplyDelete
  73. holy crap, I just read your last sentence. lol really it is isabella's fault that edward is crewing angela now? because of jane? Well Isabela is a naive humble servant girl. Edward should have observed jane or put somebody check upon her. I cant believe you just said that. Savage will be to proud of this...lol well then I would prefer he had married Jessica and there would be no war no angela nothing...lol hahahaha thanks for the laugh though

  74. I agree with you 100% Marianne...had I known that the outcome of this fic as in Edward cheating and a weak Bella, I would have never read it to begin with. I still can not get over how upset with this fic that I actually am! I think what it comes down to is that I cant for the life of me fathom how it is ok for Edward to cheat the way he did...and everyone say oh well he did it for his people. BULLSHIT!!!! There were so many other ways to get around it and most importantly what did he do for his wife, except to screw her over?? I need to let this fic go...I need to stop coming here and reading the board...b/c to sum it up, as much as I respect Savage and her talent...Im leaving all her fics. I had so much faith that she would have never let Edward do that to Bella and wound up so disappointed. Im afraid to finish her other stories b/c I dont like the feeling it leaves when the disappointment comes.

    ReplyDelete
  75. You're mocking me for my perception, and then getting pissy because you perceive me as telling you that your perception is incorrect. Your perception of Isabella is informing your perception of Edward's actions. I see things differently. Neither opinion is supported in the NARRATIVE of the story - neither Edward nor Isabella is truly at fault simply because a lot of bad decisions have led to this point. I was merely pointing out that if you wanted to play the blame game, it could go both ways.

Thank you, though, for pointing out your inherent hypocrisy - you get angry because you believe your opinion is being belittled, and then you belittle the opinion of another because you don't agree with it. Well played, Guest.

  76. Yes, I have thought it through.  I'm sorry you do not understand, but I have made it as clear for you as I can.

    ReplyDelete
  77. No, the characters are not real, they are fictional. I don't have to agree with what I write, thank goodness.  :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. It just can't help but sound over-the-top, can it?  ROFL!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Couldn't have said it better mysel! It's not the cheating that makes me mad, it's the plot holes. There are too many for the story to even be entertaining to me anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  80. sure hon, your mountain is higher than mine...lol you win..happy? lol

    ReplyDelete
  81. I think we can all speculate how we would like to for this story.  I'm guessing most of us will be wrong because since when has any of Savage's stories not been surprising?  Nothing ever happens the way we expect or want it to.  I applaud you for sticking to your guns.  I do tend to prefer HEA stories although I have read some more negative endings in the past.  I think this story is set up for an HEA whether or not others agree with me.  Either way, write the way you want.

I only have one thing to say about the situation.  Bella is a strong, introverted woman.  Typically Bella internalizes a lot of her angst and heartache.  She tends to keep things to herself when she is unsure.  This fic proves that.  I would expect the strain would effect Bella.  I don't expect her breaking down or anything.  I would expect the strain to be killing her.  Tears or dead-like movements after the long haul.  I would expect her happiness to waver and for Edward to notice his wife is different.  If you take Bella the character she has the ghost-like breakdowns (cough NEW MOON cough).  She becomes a phantom instead of throwing things.

I'm sure you will do the best for the fic.  They are your characters to do with as you wish.  I could be wrong but I wouldn't put all my stock in the tea.  There is more going on here than tea.  It would be too easy if we could blame Jane.  It wouldn't be a very good story if the plot was that easy to decipher.

I had trouble sticking with this story initially but I stuck it out.  I'm glad I did.  What if we had given up halfway through Surviving Bella or halfway through Hide and Drink?  They would have died on the raft.  Edward would have still been nearly killing Bella.  We got a good ending from being patient.

    Savage,
If you need anything, another Beta or a pre-reader or a sounding board, I'm here.  Also I'll be with you just as a reader until the end.

    Have fun!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Savage - I honestly don't think there are any plot holes in this story. Everything up until this point has been clear to me. You give us the information we need to put the puzzle together but not enough to complete it. That's a good thing, because if we had all the answers, it wouldn't be entertaining, would it?

I've been a fan of UC for a while now, and I don't like the concubine part, but I can understand why you did it. That doesn't mean that I wasn't screaming at my computer when I read that, but it does mean that I respect your decisions as a writer. It wasn't rape because Angela consented, and she did have a choice. It's not cheating because of the time period and Isabella hasn't considered this angle because she is in shock. She thinks Edward is doing what he has to do, and I agree with that. He is conflicted between his duty to his kingdom and his vows to Isabella, and that is a really tough place to be in.

Writing must drive you crazy huh? Don't write for other people, remember that this story should be what you want it to be. Who knows, mabye at the end of the story, people will look back and say that the concubine bit was brilliant. They don't understand because it isn't complete. I'm just saying that I will stick with you through this because I love this story so much, and don't ever let anyone tell you that you aren't any good.

  85. I haven't read the fanfic but I have read down the comments and I am appalled. I cannot believe people are criticizing the writer for having Edward "cheat" on Bella. WTF! Why can't the writer have them do anything she goddamn wants them to do without moralistic interpretations. I mean that's really over and around the bend.

And the way Duroy is criticized -and by Rob too - for being a horrible person who sleeps his way to the top and is cruel and victimzes these women is just PC feminist Dominating Discourse. None of the women in Bel Ami are victims. And the intro to one of the editions I read praises de Maupassant for his strong women characters. The translater is writing in the 1970's. What has happened to women's freedom? They have been liberated out of it IMO. To be perceived as victims because they are complicit in a seduction? This is just crazy PC feminist crap.

I have been reading Edith Wharton's House of Mirth and Lily Bart is an even more intelligent and perceptive wealthy spouse hunter in NYC at about the same time as Duroy, late 1800's. It is incredibly enlightening to read each novel through the other to see the difference in POV of the sexes.

Twilight is a modern version of Tristan and Iseult. It is not a romance based on Tristan and Iseult. It follows it exactly until Bella dies and changes. She then enters simulation, hyperreality, but not Virtual Reality as simulation is not total in BD. But she does die. She becomes the post modern Body Without Organs, the undying clone.

Now is Meyer just a clever teen writer or is she seriously clairvoyant. I opt for the latter.

    ReplyDelete
  86. What you are asking for is a modern psychological interpretive swamp of a plot. Post modern literature does not demand a plot where everything fits in like a  big puzzle on a bridge table.

WTF are "plot holes" and how did they become relevent. Events happen. Events come from elsewhere. There is no cause and effect. There are just effects and then some people decide to search backwards for a cause linkage. Causes have all just been made up. That's what post modernism teaches us.

Am I gonna have to go read fanfic to comment more intelligently? Shit.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Savage stop fighting the war on their turf. You cannot win that way. Not in anything.

Skimming is probably a poor choice of words. I have read Cosmopolis countless times at this point. Depending on whom I am reading it through it continues to be a different book. Its facets are endless. There is no plot. On my umpteenth reading I perceive it to be a far more brilliant novel - novel? - than I ever dreamed.

I have no doubt that Rob Pattinson will embody all the ambiguity in it of the intellectual terrorist that Eric Packer becomes. Now if in interviews he goes down the mainstream interpretive crap of loser, self-destructive, blah blah blah I will murder him in verbiage. Because I know he has read me so he will have no excuse.

Yes I guess I will have to read your fanfic and see for myself.

  88. I have two questions that have been bugging me. Why didn't Aro and Jessica threaten Angela to tell Edward no to being his concubine? and why didn't he make Angela be his spy?

    ReplyDelete
  89. There was no time for them to try that, since she wasn't in the room with them when it was decided (she was with Isabella), and by the time they would have had her alone the decision was made.  As far as the second bit, that would definitely be a future plot point if I answered it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  90. Savage, I think this is the first time I've seen it said there is no midwives or doctors. I think my issue, and the issue with hundreds of others, is your story isn't logical. No doctors, no midwives? No anybody that is a healer---that defies logic. So, while I appreciate that the story makes sense to you, it doesn't make sense to the reader. The realm you've created isn't well enough described to support most of what you listed above. You may see it that way, but a lot of us don't.

You've gone against a logic expectation for our past, without any sort of warning that you were doing it---which you can google these times, and roughly any time period, to figure out a basic understanding. You've also defied the logic of human behavior. You say you have an issue connecting with Bella's emotions...I find that to be an understatement. This chapter, to me, didn't come off as shock---but as a doormat. I also have to question why Bella was informed how it was going down. Even if E was too disgusted, Esme pretends to be motherly...there was too much focus on Bella making else feel better while no one comforted her. Maybe Esme's convo was suppose to come off as comforting, but it really wasn't---even in shock, Bella would lost her filter. She would have felt something...and she describe shock as saying she felt numb. She didn't feel whole, didn't know what to think or how to act anyone...but she didn't. She played a part where she comforted everyone around her, and came off a unhuman.

I have to agree here---it doesn't make sense. Your characters that I started this fic with are gone. My understanding of their time & realm is gone. And, though that makes me sad---and I'm not completely against the concubine aspect, it lacked foreshadowing, it lacked any concept of what was to come, and how their realm really was.

Plot holes or inconsistencies, it doesn't really matter which term you use---this is why I feel like your plot twist didn't work. Logically it doesn't make sense in our times (21st century) anymore than it does in theirs.

  91. You know what I hate the most?  When I did read the update, I found myself not caring anymore.  I absolutely loved this story.  It was a "drop everything and read" fic when that notice would come to my inbox, but now I just feel hollow inside when I think about it.

I knew what was going to happen, but the entire time I was reading I felt nothing.  That is the opposite of how I normally feel. You may have your supporters.  You may even have the stats to prove that your story is more popular now than it ever was before.  I'm happy for you.  That doesn't change the fact that it's not longer the same to us all.  While I'm sure many will continue to read, we will never feel the love and joy that we once did while we read. The thought of Edward and Bella having sex again honestly makes me ill at this point.  No matter how hot and sexy you try to make that next time, it just will not work. I, along with the other readers if they're being honest with themselves, will not be able to forget what Edward has done.I'm sure you could care less what this reader feels, but I just couldn't not tell you.  I wish I could love UC as much as I did.  I wish I didn't feel anxiety and dread when I think about what you're going to make us endure next, but I can't.  If this was your goal when you started to write this story, then well done.  You have succeeded admirably.

  93. wow, this is turning into a pissing contest. Nayers as you put it, have some very good points if you bothered to go through 100 posts here. You cant label people because they dont get it, not dont like it, but dont get it!

  94. huh? take a cill pill, what has Duroy writen in the 18th century to do with UC? pfffff

    ReplyDelete
  95. Savy,

Dont tell me Angela will become a spy...that bitch lol. I hope she drinks the tea until she chokes lol

    ReplyDelete
  96. Actually you are wrong. Isabella refers to angela as the sister she never had. It is in chap 25, so means she considers her family, which is stronger than best friend. plot holes people.

    ReplyDelete
  97. what do we have to consider it when he has to put his dick into her vagina like 100 times? because we all know angela isnt going to get pregnant right after their first fuck.

    ReplyDelete
  98. i just wanted to agree with the "he did it for his people" thing.  Edward's stated countless times that Bella is a lot more important to him than his Kingdom.  He went to war and killed most of his soldiers, but he still said he didn't regret it, because the events that led him to the war were the events that brought Bella to him.  So I can't see a character who would make that sort of statement suddenly being so noble about a concubine.  Cheating, infidelity, a breech of trust... whatever you want to call it.... It's hurting Bella so I can't see Edward doing it, even for the sake of his people.
Savage also mentioned how she never considered it "cheating" and was surprised to see her readers labeling it as that.  But Bella is incredibly upset by it so obviously this whole concubine thing is an issue for them.  Even if it's a socially acceptable thing to do in the time period, a concubine is destroying their relationship.
And I think the thing about the concubine plot twist that upsets people the most is that Savage keeps saying this is just the way the time period is.  OF COURSE this sort of stuff happened in real life.  It's a legit situation. But do you think any of the people who did this sort of thing had real, pure love?  Yeah, concubines were accepted in society at one point in history, but back then men considered women property and married men being in love with their wives was rare.  So it's not the "believability" that a concubine could be brought into the story that has people upset.  It's the character's reactions.  It's legitimate that the people in UC would consider a concubine a reasonable option, but it is not possible that Edward could accept a concubine but still have respect for Bella (and Angela, for that matter) as his equal.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I just find it so hard to believe that the love the 2 of them worked so hard for could just be shot to hell because they need an heir. Like you said it was suggested that Bella was Edward's world and he would have given it all away for the love of his wife...and then because something is said he is ready to screw the first thing he can to produce an heir?? I feel Bella is a joke to women in this fic because most women would put up a fight, try to find other ways around the whole concubine thing, speak to elders to see if they knew of a tea or remedy that could possibly help with conception...anything to keep her husband from doing what he was going to do. But no she just says "ok Angela my dear, how was my husbands cock, did he pleasure you??? Oh Im so sorry he didnt give you pleasure however Im so happy he didnt hurt you" (my thoughts on her reaction to the betrayl). Im just devestated that after all the two of them went through to make their marriage work, it was just so casually thrown away because of something that could have been prevented.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Actually I really like that Angela could turn out to be a spy. If you think about it, it's pretty awesome since they are trusting her to bare the future kings son.  I sure would feel bad for how Edward was with her anymore, lol!!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Holy guacamole...  My dear Savage...you have caused quite a ruckus this time...lol.  I haven't seen this much plotline freak out since Emancipation Proclamation!  Wow.

Question...doesn't anyone know the story of HenryVIII?  Doesn't anyone watch The Tudors???  LOL...

I am SHOCKED at some of these comments...Absolutely shocked.

I am a big fan of your stories...have read everything...and will continue to read as long as I still find it entertaining...which I do.  I haven't read all of the new update.  I don't love that Eddie shared his willy with Angie...but I trust its all going to turn out ok in the end!  I'm saving the chapter until you have another chapter or so up!  That simple!  And if I don't like it....oh well!  I will go on with my life!  The world will not end!

And for the record...I HAVE been cheated on....and this plotline triggered none of those feelings....because....*whispers* it's just a story....

Your post....TOTALLY justified.  And I think writing an outtake like that would actually be kinda cool shit!  Maybe Braveheart style?  "FREEDOM!!!

One more thing....in my experience, your level of engagement with your readers has always been so wonderful.  I really hope this insane over reaction that is going on with this story doesn't discourage too much.

    THANK YOU FOR WRITING!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Please. Don't reply to stupid crap like the above. There are infinite ways for these characters to behave. You wrote it your way. No need to defend. Stephenie brushes these questions off. There's nothing wrong with your choices.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Your comment is complaining that Savage is not literal enough. Thank god she is not. They didn't. So what. Foreshadowing went out with Hawthorne and The House of Seven Gables as a literary technique. Toss it.

    ReplyDelete
  104. To think of it as cheating is absurd. Even the Bible talks about coveting in your mind - heart - as being equal to the dirty deed. European women are just not like this. Cheating is only a problem when incurable sexual diseases become reality. AIDS and STD's have brought on this morality about cheating. And to attack a character or writer for it is beyond my understanding. I quit.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I can't believe you. This is the fuggin 12th or 13th century, feudal times. When all inheritance went to the eldest son. It sucked to be second born. And daughters were auctioned off to consolidate property etc. Feudal men took women when they felt like it. They were brutes, warriors, uncultivated, blood lusting newborns (to resonate with Twilight), for the most part. King Arthur and the Round Table was a legend to challenge that behavior.

Go after Abraham in the Bible for Hagar and the resulting son Ishmael, will you. Savage is basing it on that. If Bella conceives, her son will take precedence. Just like Sarah.

Why you (savage) would seriously consider a reply to Marianne I don't know.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I am astonished  at your mentality. Have you ever read anything before?

    ReplyDelete
  107. Where are you coming off with this "real pure love" fairy tale reading? Yes he could take a handmaid to have a child with (a handmaid is not a concubine BTW) and a clear headed Bella could accept that. She might be hurt, emotionally upset, but not destroyed by it. Within this plot she behaves maturely. And someone suggesting she give the ultimatum me or her! Of course he could love and respect Bella even tho he's trying for an heir.

    ReplyDelete
  108. She's not Twilight Bella, she's an innocent commoner from the 12th century. Stop projecting into her. She doesn't know any of this remedy stuff you are proposing.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I don't know about your readership.

    ReplyDelete
  110. At last a sane voice here.

    ReplyDelete
  111. The characters of Twilight are not written in stone in fanfic. Get over it. Bella is not a doormat. That's just your unquestioning acceptance of PC feminist Dominating Discourse thinking. It is destructive.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Yes. And you are funny too. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Well you are projecting so much that it is scary.

    ReplyDelete
  114. How then can you deal with Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar? This fanfic is not of our time.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Angela could have said no. did you read it? Esme was going to take the same route so she obviously didn't know about midwives or herbs or blah blah blah. Every good writer will say that their characters take on their own lives. They don't force them. Where is all this stinking morality coming from?

    ReplyDelete
  116. Gee savage you could have just had Edward come into a cup and then sucked it up in one of those gravy suction things they could have had back then, and squirted it up Angela. Now why the hell didn't you think of that.

Wait a minute. Would that have been CHEATING! OMG I don't know!

Go over to wiki and read cheating. I have taught second graders that would have shamed most of you over the way some of you use words of condemnation.

    ReplyDelete
  117. They are calling it cheating because their linguistic skills are non existent.

  118. Oh good another sane voice.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Still another sane voice. We are outnumbered however.

    ReplyDelete
  120. One it's not going to go on for years. Edward has a six months time limit. Spring.

I think Bella's lack of hysterics is OK. After all, she has been the one to induce calm in Edward all along, so for her to melt down wouldn't exactly help and she knows this. She is brave. She wants to learn how to be a good queen for Edward and his people. It's a fucking fairy tale folks. Just because she doesn't turn into a raging 20th century feminist doesn't mean she is weak.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Now this is a nice approach. God I keep commenting because I think savage needs to be validated.

  125. No I think most of them have never heard of  who Henry who! What did you say!

    ReplyDelete
  126. What it has to do with UC? Nothing. It has to do with the way people discuss and review fiction from a moralistic POV. Dragging characters and writers through the dirt because they aren't as pure as you want them to be. And Pattinson does it too with the characters he plays, criticizing them on moral grounds. Whose morals? Not mine.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I have read it since I posted but as someone above said the comments have more interest than the fanfic itself. The comments are astonishing, astonishingly emotionally immature rantings.

  131. I told you above. He's going to jerk off in a cup and then suction it up in one of those gravy basters with the glass tube and the little rubber sqeegee and then they are going to stick the tube up Angela and squirt it in!

  137. For a momant i thought savage got a new moniker...lol, but then i didnt because she has much more class than you do. That "stupid crap" above is a devoted reader, she is not alone and she very nicely asked a legitimate question. People need to understand to go on with a story when given such a complicated and controversal subject matter. Piss off!

    ReplyDelete
  138. I think Jessica will try to get angela eat some of the herbs Jane is prepearing the tea in order to not have her pregnant. angela will taste it and recognise the same taste. she will tell isabella, i dont think angela will turn bad, angelas are never bad...lol. She will discover the tea, we wont hate her anmore for edwards peen in her vay, and finally people will say...see? the concubine thing was neccessary, otherwise the dumb isabella would have drank the tea her whole life...lol...just speculating here

    ReplyDelete
  139. Savage herself accepted she has a hard time expressing bella's emotons and she took the critisizm really well. where are you coming from with those grotesque attacks, not here for sure. Get off your high horse, who pissed in your coffee this morning. So you expect anybody singing praizes and no question or debate? If it is this what you want to read, then  that would be an indication of a boring story. Again, twiland calls you, this is edward and bella from wilight not abraham and henry and the rest of the fuckers/

    ReplyDelete
  140. the fact that you googled the meaning of cheating is scary, but in a ridiculous way, beacause that is the 21st century definition. you scream and yell, :but it was normal back then"....thank god they didnt have internet...lol

    ReplyDelete
  141. really? are you going to help him jerk off? or are you going to open up angela's vay and finger her in order to let her losen a bit? yeah thats not cheating, edward didnt do anything, you did all the job. thanks i feel so much beteter...snorts....

I dont get your point though. rest assured, dont be scared Savage is going with the initial plan, so need to panic or mock others. you will have all of the fucking you are finding so endearing and plausible.

    ReplyDelete
  142. a little math. 6 months x 30 night /month = 180 times fucking and throwing up. so much better right?

    ReplyDelete
  143. after a cpl months when angela is w/o child i think bella should encourage edward to take 2 other virgin concubines to increase the chanses of having an heir at any cost, at her cost. Edward can fuck them all, and Bella will take it as a lady i suppose. This should come logically to her. why only 1 concubine, isnt she eager to save the people of forks at her own expense? and since they have such a short period of time it would make sense they put 3 beds in the room and edward fucks 3 concubines with 30 min break in betwwen (enough time to rub it off) She is sooo strong, sometimes i think she is a vampire already lol

    ReplyDelete
  144. now you have to really piss off for telling people how and what to feel, you arrogant bitch!

    ReplyDelete
  145. "Why you (savage) would seriously consider a reply to Marianne I don't know."

because you are ot Savage, and she is not a one dimentional bipolar bitch

    ReplyDelete
  146. Handmaid's Tale - good catch.  Love that book. :)  "PC feminist Dominating Discourse" - LOL!  Love it!  Thank you - I appreciate it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  147. Not really.  I think the sane ones speak their minds and go, they don't feel the need to rehash the same thing over and over again.  For every negative message, I have received about 100-150 positive ones.  Not even close to being outnumbered. :)

    ReplyDelete
  148. I completely agree with your advice.  1. I am.  I can still reflect on it and look for better ways to make it all happen.  I looked into it, and decided I liked it just how it is.  2. Rant-posting is always a mistake.  I'm human, though, so I make them.  Sometimes I need to apologize for them, but that's not the same as apologizing for any thing in the story.  3. See point 1.  I've known exactly what to do with this story since the beginning.  It's not changing.  I am perfectly happy with where it's going - it's been heading that way since I wrote the summary.

    ReplyDelete
  149. I thought savage was basing this fic on Edward and Bella, twilight lovers where nothing and noone comes in between when it comes to their exraordinary, extraterrestrial, love story. I didnt know this would be an abraham and sarah inspiration, or Bible for that matter. i had no clue, a lil warning would have been appreciated

    ReplyDelete
  150. you do savage? have you read all her posts? She is insulting your readers even when they ask an innocent question to you. you say you have gained readers. readers like this who tell you how perfect and amazing you are and how you can make no wrong and how you get misunderstood all the time, or how ingorant your readers are for not getting you? Are you happy with it?
im not even one of those readers who is against your concubine plot and i find her comments highly insulting. I thought you were against insulting here. You are thanking her for calling out your readers and basically telling them how much of idiots and uneducated they are? Nice, but dont preach!

    ReplyDelete
  151. Do you really find her comments positive?

    ReplyDelete
  152. she is an innocent commoner from 12 century, but she is this noble and wise in the same time? right!

    ReplyDelete
  153. Savage, I wish I could put this comment at the top of all of the others because I want to suggest one thing: DON'T READ ANY OF THESE COMMENTS.

Seriously, I have read all of them since the count went to 159 and the whole thing is way out of hand.  There are valid points made on both sides of the issue, but I think we all want to read the story that you envisioned, or at least that's what we SHOULD want.  Yes, it is hard to read, but that's your thing. Keep doing what you do.  It is fabulous!  Please don't be influenced by these over-the-top reactions!

    ReplyDelete
  154. Savage,

Yuor new found admirer made her pont like 50 times in the span of 1 hour, but you thnaked her with all your heart. Why so selective. If you feel you have to reply, at least be fair. I know you wont reply this, but I see it why.

    ReplyDelete
  155. one thing thoug. 1-2% of the readers are overreacting and abandoning the story. im one of those readers who have accepted it, will continue reading, but not neccessarily happy it happened. I think that is what all this posts below are telling you. They are not 1-2%

    ReplyDelete
  156. I didnt come here to have you Abbey question my mentality. I came here to express a disappointment in a fic that I loved. Just because I dont agree with your bullshit doesnt mean you have a right to question my mentality. I am astonished at YOUR mentalitly. You honestly think its ok for a woman to roll over and take it up the ass when her husband goes to another woman to make an heir??? Get over yourself...stop insulting people because they dont agree with your "knowledge" of the 12th or 13th "fuggin" century.

    ReplyDelete
  157. And this is why we love you!  Good to know your current position on the story and its direction.  Keep up the good work!

    ReplyDelete
  158. LOL!!!! Absolutley Good Bye! Abbey said that it is only cheating when an STD happens!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! OMG....and she questioned my mentality in an earlier post!

    ReplyDelete
  159. 1 or 2% are idiots for abandoning. 50% loved the concubine and "cheating", 50% didnt but moved on because they trust you and love your writing; it is like they are giving you another chance and put trust on it. im sure you wont dissapoint. Please do not make your statistics based on your personal inbox. What is writen in blogs and open boards is more realistic and productive.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Oh well...Its my opinion. Just like you are entitled to yours. Im not going to throw off on you because you disagree with me. I respect everyones differences...but you have no right coming on here and insulting people because they dont agree with you.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Sorry, and yours aren't? You come in here, bash readers, and leave your well read PHD shit all over the place. Just because you have read all of those books that you are spewing on and on about doesn't make you any less immature. For your info...no gives a shit. This is fanfic. If we wanted that...we would join a fucking bookclub. You know writers want people to review. I know Savage always says she doesn't give a shit if we review or not, but still. Most writers want reviews. I've actually seen A/N's and twitter posts were writers complain about getting one sentence reviews. They want more. I have a lot of friends that I req out fics to that don't review. Probably for this very reason. People want to leave a review and not be personally attacked for it. In fact most people don't want their reviews read by anyone other than the author. I fear by you doing this you are making people question whether or not it is safe to leave a review. I do believe other writers are going to suffer from this. If that does happen....shame on you.

Thank you for reading  the fic but you still have not answered my question. Or have you? Are you here just to reek havoc? Because if so, mission accomplished.

One more thing, this...".Read Against Interpretation by Susan Sontag and then you will know why I am not taking on your middle paragraph." is a huge cop out. Oh brilliant mind...please enlighten us.

  162. I finally read the last two chapters of UC last night.  I've been putting it off cause I have a hard time handling the heartache but it wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be.  As much as I hate the situation they are in, this is a period fic and things are different than modern day.  Plus, Edward's expressions of remorse and distaste for what he must do make it all better for me.  He has no choice.  If he has no heir he will be forced to push Bella aside and accept Jessica.  Yuck!  I hate that readers post derogatory comments toward Savage for her storyline.  If you don't like it, say so respectfully and move on.  As for hijacking posts on non-UC stuff, I'm guilty of mentioning UC on the Offside forum.  I wasn't intending to hijack, it was just a comment here or there that kind of went with the way the posts were going.  I didn't go on any rants or anything, but sometimes it's hard to stick to discussing one story when you are all reading the others together as well.  KWIM?  Regardless of the heartache, I think Savage writes some of the best stories out there and I always have faith.

    ReplyDelete
  163. I completely agree.  After reading all the comments on here I'm not sure if I want to continue on with this story or any for that matter.  I thought this was for views on both sides of the story. No wonder twilight fans get a bad name.

    ReplyDelete
  164. leap920 please do not let this affect your reviews. Not all stories end up like this. In fact I can count on one hand the number of times this has happened and I read A LOT. I'm sure a lot of writers would miss you. Take care and peace. T.

    ReplyDelete
  165. I was only commenting on catching the handmaid's tale reference and the phrase used, nothing else.  I really don't look at the names of people who post, and rarely tie them together.  I do tend to notice "guest" vs someone who leaves their name, but other than that, I don't pay much attention.

    ReplyDelete
  166. I have certainly been more civil than you have been on this thread. You come across as a child getting defensive because your favourite story is getting discussed - some of us can discuss it like adults, so please consider trying that at one point in the future and you might get taken seriously.

This is not a historicaly accurate fic, so please don't throw that nonsense back at me - you can't pick and choose which historic facts you want to accept. And fyi - Mallory's version of the Arthurian legends was highly romanticised if we're going into the age of chilvalry. The real Arthur was probably one of those warlords you are talking about. This is based after the age of chivalry, so lets be realistic. We've been asked to accept that this Edward, who we were watching grow up emotionally from the cold, unfeeling 'brute' (at least emotionally) into someone capable of love and trust would then go and cheat on his wife out the blue. THAT is what people have an issue with and if you weren't in your guard-dog mode and unwilling to listen to any legitimate responses you would see that is the issue.

It is 'fangirls' like you who are killing this fandom. People should be allowed to respectfully raise opinions on fics, even famous fics, without abuse and the rabid fangirls unleashed because 'omg! you don't see how great this is and you all are stupid and yada yada yada'. Simple fact - THIS IS A FANFIC. It has been put on public display and people are permitted to say what they want. You are barking up the wrong tree if you think calling out me, who has been respectful in my disagreement with what happened is helping your cause then you are very much mistake and frankly I find it discouraging that Savage would encourage it or at least not call you out on it. You are entitled to an opinion, but please do not presume to lecture me on things you clearly know nothing about.

To make it simple for you - the issue that myself and many other people have with this is that we were given no prior warning that this fic would involve adultery and that we would have to sit back and watch Bella calmly ask the other woman if it was good for her. Not giving that warning, waiting until people became invested and blindsiding them smacks of attention and controversy seeking and people are allowed to be upset at that. Now you and the rest of the rabid fangirls who can't get their heads around that can criticise me if they want, but go have a look around the web at fic discussion posts and see how many casual fans share your viewpoint to how many share mine. Get over yourself and please don't presume to talk down to me in a conversation that has NOTHING to do with you.

    ReplyDelete
  167. STD's have just brought a morality about cheating? You are ridiculous and doing the author no favours.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Thank you - very much appreciated. :)

    ReplyDelete
  169. Mentioning one fic in relation to another isn't the same as hijacking.  You're all good. :)

    ReplyDelete
  170. I really appreciate how you praise her when she's done nothing but bash people on here. She's an example as to why your reputation is plummeting in the fandom and I say that as someone who had so much respect for you until the last few days. So, so disappointed in the way you've handled this.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Forgive me for being human and imperfect.  I don't mean that sarcastically, either.  There are things I would change about how I've handled this, but real life stress got the better of me for one day.  I believe this has been mentioned to you before.  At that time, you said no apology was necessary, so why are you continuing this line of posting?

    ReplyDelete
  172. Maybe I am maybe I'm not. From this perspective lets see...Bella is skank whore Jessica's hand maid for years along with Angela. Bella is shown no kindness other than through Angela. Of course she is going to see Angela as like a sister. Now that she has seen kindness first hand from  other places is she going to feel the same way? Maybe, maybe not.

This kinda goes along the same lines as a picture has a thousands words. So does a story. Everyone's interpretation is different. I look at it one way you look at it another. That is where the real beauty lies. We are all different. If we all saw it the same way this world would be one boring place.

Speaking of boring....Are you the same guest that has littered this little playing field? If so....do you have a sign in? If so...why aren't you using it? If you are not the only guest on here my apologies. If you do in fact have a sign in...you really should use it.

Oh and a couple of other things....Since you are obviously big into plot holes (as you call them) are you a writer? Do you write ff? I want to know if any of them are on my list.

Thanks for your opinion. Take care. T.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Well said again Marianne!

    ReplyDelete
  174. Excuse me? why is everybody so mad today? what did i say?

    ReplyDelete
  175. For starters would you please go back and reread what I just typed. Then please ask me a question that I can respond to. A good thing would also be to respond to some of the questions that I asked you. Then we will go from there. Is that acceptable?

    ReplyDelete
  176. You cant be serious right? Tell me you are just kidding or intentionally messing around. How ignorant of you?

    ReplyDelete
  177. Wahahahah. I just read this. Seriously? You can't be serious. Are you high?  I mean really? Your saying that if it were not for STD's that having an affair would be perfectly morally excepted? To argue that case....I do believe their is also a 10 commandment that states...Thou shall not commit adultery. I'm pretty sure that when God made that statement he wasn't talking about it from an STD standpoint. Cheating is cheating and an STD is nothing but  Karma biting them in the ass. Sorry. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Well, I can tell you we are not the same Guest, I know you wish we were though. Not to defend the other Guest, but your long rant because she pointed something she saw differently is unwarranted. Yes, Angela is the only friend/family Bella had known since childhood. It is implied very well in the story. Kate has been more like a mother figure and im sure she is a more grown woman, so she wouldnt be a good choice for Edward to fornicate and pro-create. The other Guest didnt even pick your post apart, she picked just 1 thing she sees differently, call it a friging hole or inconsistency. You can reply me with a phd type long rant. im rarely intimidated from people and their rants. take care as well

    ReplyDelete
  179. Just a quick note:
I'm enjoying how you've kept my interest and made the story so engaging that readers are reacting so strongly to the angst and woe of the main couple.  The multiple arcs really cause the story to feel like it's encompassing the ups and downs of the years of their lives together, rather than just a snapshot of a single point in them.  The latest issue of Edward taking a concubine is a lovely left turn that I enjoyed because it caused me to feel so passionately for a devoted couple trying to live their lives together in peace.

As for plot holes... Well, everyone has their opinion on those - one man's plot hole is another man's happy obliviousness.  It's your story and your take on the characters, so I say bring on the flaws!  Play to your heart's content and have a ball. I look forward to the next chapter. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  180. Am I the only one who doesn't think Savage came off as rude in this post? I read it a while ago and all I thought was "good that everyone can come here and chat about everything", that's all.

Woah, people are def reading into things way too much.

As someone who is contemplating to resume to write fanfiction, this scares me off. Savage has no obligations here, none. And you have no obligations to her. She will write her story the way she wants to, and she is the one who has the "connection" to these characters and the one who knows them the best. I trust that she knows where she is going with this :)

    ReplyDelete
  181. From a different viewpoint, I think it would be fascinating if, in an AU version of this story, Edward picked Angela for his wife rather than Bella. If then Bella was brought in as the concubine, I imagine the fandom reaction would be very different.

I know that an issue (read huge) has been made over the medical aspect of UC. While it is true that doctors haven't necessarily been much good in the past, ever society from cave men to Greeks to Victorian England has had some form of 'medicine man'. However, I understand completely that you have not labled this story to fit in with a specific era, and therefore while I could write in my head an easy way out with the use of a midwife, I am just enjoying the story.

Besides, personally I am very suspicious of Angela...

    ReplyDelete
  182. Me asking who you are has nothing to do with a comment that was left about someone else. Personally I could care less. I responded to this one because you were the one who responded to mine. No where in my comment does it say Guest. It does say Savage. So.....Furthermore I was not angry at you. Just asked questions. You're the one who seems to have a stick up your ass sideways. Actually in all your reading today did you see this post?

Most writers want reviews. I've actually seen A/N's and twitter posts
where writers complain about getting one sentence reviews. They want
more. I have a lot of friends that I req out fics to that don't review.
Probably for this very reason. People want to leave a review and not be
personally attacked for it. In fact most people don't want their reviews
read by anyone other than the author. I fear by you doing this you are
making people question whether or not it is safe to leave a review. I do
believe other writers are going to suffer from this. If that does
    happen....shame on you.

While I am at it....shame on you. You know I read the new update and I have to be honest...even I almost didn't leave a review and  I am not afraid of anything but still the thought of leaving one made me feel ill. Cowards like you who hide behind guest avi's are ruining ff for others. Worry about your own reviews, mind your own business and butt the fuck out.  Yeah, I said coward. You may say that you are not intimidated but you are still logging in under guest. That speaks volumes. Besides, up until now...I was just asking questions and defending my comment. You had no reason to feel intimidated. So that is all on you.

Savage if you read this...you really should disable the guest on here. I'm betting it would cut a lot of this crap out.

While this has been fun and all I think I'm done. I wish everyone a great day. Take care and peace. :) T.

    ReplyDelete
  183. I enjoyed the update. I also liked the scene with Edward and Aro.

    ReplyDelete
  184. I hope you do quite, because who cares!! I'm guessing you dont believe in cheating at all. People have different opinions on what cheating is, which is obvious in this thread. Just because they dont agree with your views on cheating doesn't make them wrong on their views of it. To me, if your married or in a relationship and stick your penis in someone else or do anything sexual with them, that to me is cheating.

    ReplyDelete
  185. LOL!!! or maybe Angela overhears something and Jessica or Aro make her keep quiet about it. Heck maybe since everyone thinks it's the tea, Shay will throw in a curve ball and have it be something else. Maybe Edward is the one with the problem after all.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Shame on me? why are you pissing all ove this place? Guest is a name too. If I tell you my name is Apple, im less anon for you? Who are you to tell Savage who to disable or not? How do you dumb arrogant thing? Where on earth my post was insulting to you psycho? piss off and dont bother to answer.

    ReplyDelete
  187. Whahahaha. Hey Apple...nice to meet you. LMAO!!!

    ReplyDelete
  188. So Now we're dumb? Who the HELL are you to tell me or ANYONE that their views and opinions on cheating are wrong? because I sure as heck dont give a damn about your opinion on it. Not to mention what you just posted isn't even how they do inseminations in this centry. They dont use a turkybaster and I feel VERY sorry for your second graders!!

    ReplyDelete
  189. Well in those days, No Angela wouldn't be able to say no. Did you not read how Bella was in the begining of this story? Ladies in their station were taught to obey and agree or there would be consequences. Which is why When Edward would ask Bella something she would agree or say if you wish. So Angela probably thought she had no choice but to agree.

    ReplyDelete
  190. I was being funny with the turkey baster. No sense of humor? I guess not.

    ReplyDelete
  191. I read on disqus what you said about Black Swan and I thought you might like to read my review of it. Of course it's "different". It's on my blog http://focusfree.blogspot.com

    And Savage is certainly savage!

    ReplyDelete
  192. I am not putting down the wisdom of women about preventing pregnancy. Or facilitating it. Obviously we think the tea is involved.

I am only saying that Esme was going to take the same route. This means that if the knowledge was out there, and it probably was, Esme did not know about it. That's all. There are cancer cures out there now. Do you know about them? If you don't you may try all sorts of hospital things that will buy you some years at the worst.

They probably were out there. Bella didn't know about them! Read more carefully and critically please.
