I Told Ya My Mind Works In Weird Ways

Now that Offside chapter 119 has posted, let me give you a little idea of how all of this came about.  It was about chapter 60, and I really didn't know where this story was going to go.  That's when an image of Edward trying to walk after being injured, Bella egging him on from the other end of the bars, then them falling together onto the floor and ending up with a good motorboating came into my head.

Yeah - that one little scene in my head set the stage for the entire rest of the story.

Edward dumping Bella
Saving her form the van accident
Not being able to walk
Stefan's "therapy"
Carlisle's suicide
Edward crawling up the stairs

All of that from a single thought of Edward motorboating Bella on the mat.

Ha!

Just had to get that off my chest.

:)

  1. Amazing!  thanks for posting.  i always thought everyone had an outline from 1st to last chap all worked out before they even started!  this was so interesting to read showing how fluid a story can become.  loving this fic - it's just wonderful.  glad to see that edward still has his spirit intact, albiet just a little weakened, for now.

  2. Never heard the motorboating expression before.  Would like a demo. Any takers?

  4. Just so that you know?  Tender Soccerward (even a motorboating Soccerward) has absolutely died me.  I luff heem and true love lasts a lifetime.

I have also just finished reading what you have written of Unexpected Circumstances and I am so surprised at how hooked and devastated I am by that story.  I have both lolled out loud and been gutted in equal measure.  The whole Edward ‘praying before spilling his seed’ business had me laughing tears - it seemed very Tom Cruisey in a ridiculous way but the Angela ‘concubine’ storyline caused me actual physical pain - for everyone involved.  I may never recover.  Seriously, gutted.

In case you can’t determine what I’m trying to say from my rambling?  I love your writing.  You have such a gift for page turning and understanding what hooks people in to a story. Thanks for doing it.

  5. Love it. Just goes to prove that great story lines can be inspired by just about anything. :)

  6. just want to add one more thought about  UC.  i love that fic and i know for the first few chapters i gave you shit - calling you out on the authenticity of the times and you wrote (probably directed to me) an AN saying - hey, this is what it is, there's no exact time frame, just have fun with it.  and that's how i've handled it.  I have loved Edward and  Bella in this story - they are so sweet, even though I hated edward not sleeping with bella lately!   but in truth it always seemed like maybe we liked this story better than you?  not sure if that is true, but maybe your heart wasn't in the story and thats why you are having trouble with it?   anyway, i'm glad you are going to keep at it because I happen to love it.  I even saw a movie on tv the other night and I kept thinking about this story while watching it.  I think we all love this more than  you realize???????   Plus, I'm dying to know - was it ALWAYS the tea?  or did we influence you??????  jw.   You're the best.  seriously, y ou are such a great writer, don't ever doubt that.  so what if one or two or e  v en 100  people don't like the story - there are 1,000s that love it!!!!!!!

  8. LOL!  Even in posts entirely about Offside, it all comes back to UC, huh?  :)

I think UC became problematic because (as said in previous posts), I'm a bit OCD and tend to do things in the same way over and over again.  When I started getting a lot of nasty reviews (again - not criticism, people telling me over and over again that I'm disgusting, a cunt, sick in the head, etc. etc.) I couldn't follow my normal writing process anymore.  THAT'S what has made it more difficult.  My heart was in it - very much so.  Hoping to get that back.

It was always the tea.  I can have my beta stop in and show you the outline from last year. :)

  9. I started reading Offside BECAUSE of UC, mostly because I needed to fill the time between updates, ha ha. Love them both, btw. As for all the morons who literally lost their shit over what you wrote in UC, they need to get over it. No one has the right to berate you for your own work and if they didn't like the direction it took, they should have been adult about it and stopped reading. No nastiness was necessary, but I guess they were absent that day in Kindergarten when we were all taught to respect others and play nicely.

Loved the updates. Can't get enough of 'em, so keep 'em comin'!!

(and the only reason I'm posting as anonymous is because I don't have any other account listed. Justin sayin' ;) )

  10. Bahahahaaa!!  LOVE it!  Kinda the reverse butterfly effect.  All this "invented" to set the stage for one moment.  That rocks!  :D

  12. I always wonder how the stories I love were created. It seemed surreal that the idea for Twilight had come from a dream. Your post confirms how mysterious the creative process really is. The scene with Bella tempting Edward to walk and him motorboating her made my day.

  13. you have my bff going crazy with your logic.but i have no objections! as long as i get to keep reading your stuff i will be happy. and i just had this feeling that the tea was the problem! i would just like to point out to my friend kevin that i so called it! hehehe i'm doing my happy dance! you just didn't want to believe me! but there was an evil plot going on! Edward is paranoyed for a reason!

  14. Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you. :)

  15. Hey Savage,

Thank you for continuing UC. Yeah it always comes to UC lol. Im one of your readers who had been a bit critic of the situation post Angela (Edward's complete withdrawal and not talking about the whole angela situation and how it affected him with Bella). It seemd like they were detaching from themselves and the flow of the story. I thought they were in it together. Anyway, Im glad the story is moving on and im sure Edward has a lot to learn on both account, how to be a good husband and King. Cant wait for the next chap. When?

  16. sorry, forgot. Love Offside by the way:)

  17. This probably explains why you're the only one who understands UC. If you don't know where a story is going by Chapter 60, how can we as readers expect you to write in character...we can't and you proved it. Damn, I thought you were a better writer than this, but I guess I was wrong. Offline jumped ship, UC sunk faster than the Titanic, and nothing you've written as been as good as H&D. You're better than this, but your stories have stopped making sense. Your characters don't stay in character, and now this makes perfect sense. You don't know where it's going...flying by the seat of your pants plots are the ones that fail in this fandom. Kinda like your stories right now.

  18. and as i've said bedfore, I love the direction your weird mind goes. Makes for awesome reading. Wondering if it's because at times my mind goes weird ways as well..Don't change the direction your heart/mind takes you.. go with what is right for you...

  19. Um...do you see me mention UC in the same paragraph as Offside?  Maybe if you read more closely things would make sense to you.  And if you feel the need to  stop by here just to be nasty to me, please feel free to go elsewhere. Thanks!

  20. Thank you, though I'm not surprised I'm told to go re-read. For the record, I did go back and re-read most of your latest stuff when it stopped making sense, and it still doesn't make sense. If you don't know where a story is going by Chapter 60 and we're at what 119, that is a problem. As a reader, I should not have to go back and re-read, but I've given you the benefit of the doubt and did so. Nothing makes sense from the concubine/tea/Edward's multiple personalities to the complete fuckary of Offline...what I see, and I think many others is that you have forfeited plot for the sake of shock value. Now we have to see you whine about negativity...no offense, but for someone who claims to read their reviews you would have to be blind to not now the overall public opinion of how UC was going to turn. All you do now is whine and it's boring. Honestly, at this point I get why you're finishing Offline, but I don't know with UC. Posting the outline almost seems like a nicer option so it can be done and go into the vault of other stories that did the "Shock before plot" play out. I'm not trying to be overall negative, and my IQ was above average the last time it was checked, but this post just pissed me off. You string along readers to put them in situations you don't know how to fix and just stating the obvious, it's why no one trusts you as author. Why should we? Nothing has been good as H&D, and honestly, I almost think it was done by someone else,
