Teaser Tuesday - UC Chapter 10

I've been notified that several of my stories have been nominated for a variety of awards at the Twinklings Walk of Fame site. Go check it out! :)

And now - on to the teaser! Yes, it's evil...but only a little bit.

“I won’t allow Tanya or Irina to upset you again,” he said, his tone now soft. He marched the two steps it took to reach me. His hand cupped my chin and he tilted my head upwards until I met his glorious, green, hesitant eyes. His voice dropped to a whisper. “I promise.”

I nodded and looked off to the side at nothing in particular. I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to say to him. On one level, I knew he was sincere and he truly meant every word he said. On the other, he could change his mind – he could decide his relations were ultimately more important than I. He could even decide based on some arbitrary whim that I am not loyal and order my death.

“I know,” Edward said. He dropped his hand, turned away from me and walked back to the window. He leaned against the sill and looked out over the castle grounds.

“What do you know, my…Edward?”

“I know my promises are meaningless to you,” he said simply. He folded his arms and dropped his chin on them as he stared out into the forest. “I’m used to my word meaning something, but apparently that isn’t the case here.”

  3. Meaningless. Yep. He has a loooong way to go with our girl.

Interesting that she is making him work so hard at their relationship.

  5. Poor Edward he is wearing out the knees of those linen trousers isn't he! What does he expect after the way he scared Isabella like he did!

  6. Of course his words don't mean anything anymore after he went berserk at Bella before finding out the facts. He deserved Bella's cold shoulder for at least 2 weeks or a month maybe. Don't go easy on him Shay just because he is gorgeous ;p
On the other hand, can Bella show some backbone? I've had enough of her being knocked around and scared all the time. Or is that just her style?
Bella in sheviking is a captive in a foreign land yet she's so tough and make decisions for herself. I think I've said enough and too far, sorry, sorry.. no comparison here :)
    Thanks for teaser tuesday!

  7. Honestly this teaser gave me shivers up my spine - the great kind - just thinking about the power, that Bella has no idea she has..... makes me all tingly : )

  8. Well hell, why wouldn't his promises mean nothing to her? He's done nothing but fuck up since he married her.

  12. I also get shivers up my spine. I might have cried a little. why is that your words get to me this much?

  13. How about spending a little less time thinking about yourself, Edward, how you've screwed up and your remorse....and more time actually DOING what Queen Esme told you to do: tell your wife about yourself and your past that makes you act this way, get to know her, explain and teach her about your kingdom's customs, history, rules, etc????

You're bound to continue to screw up as long as you spend your time thinking and talking....not taking action to "earn" Isabella's trust. I agree with everyone's points above that Bella should "hold back" - Edward needs to TRULY earn her trust, loyalty and affection.

  14. Actually, I think Edward should be feeling that way. It's not like he's kept any promises he's made to her yet. He's previously promised to protect her and keep her safe and well, we see how well he's done that!

I know your post from today says you're having a little "writer's block" but I'm sure you'll break right through it and just like last week... Feel free to post early! LOL!

  15. Can't wait for the next chapter. It's natural to take some time for Bella to regain her trust in Edward so he has to work a bit more. Love it.
