Sneak peek and Such

Answers to some questions, and then a sneak peek.

With regards to Want No More - I was really wondering why so many people seem to be reading it all of the sudden. Did it get rec'd somewhere that I didn't know about? :) Just curious.

The new story is Unexpected Circumstances, for those who asked. There is a little blurb on it on the writing projects page. It won't start posting until Surviving Bella is done.

Judging books is moving along slowly. We'll see how far I manage to get with it tonight. I'm not totally happy with what I have right now, so I'm not sure if it will be updated this weekend or not. Even what I'm "sneak peeking" to you could end up in the bin. :)

All right, here's your Judging Books sneak peek! Enjoy!

At the bottom of the stairs – balanced on his bicycle and smoking a cigarette in all his beautiful, teenage glory – was Edward. Our eyes met, and he graced me with that smile.

“Hey,” he said – or maybe he just mouthed it. I couldn’t hear him over Lauren’s chatter. I glanced over at her, but she was looking off in the other direction and apparently hadn’t noticed him. I was only three steps from the bottom, and I’d have to either stop or walk right past him. I had no idea what I should do. I wasn’t expecting him to actually show up here – on campus! I wasn’t prepared. What was I going to tell Lauren? She was definitely going to grill me, regardless. Good lord, there was no telling what she might say to him right in front of me! Would she notice how young he was, or would she not even get past the piercings and tattoos? I couldn’t even think about the cigarette and the fact that he was on a bicycle. Shit, Lauren would have a fucking field day if she found out I had spent the weekend with him. I was going to be torn apart if I even acknowledged that I knew him. I wondered what he would do if I just walked right past him and pretended I didn’t see him, but if I did that, Edward was going to be hurt.

I hesitated a moment, having absolutely no idea what I should do, and then ended up stopping at the bottom of the stairs – caught in my own indecision. Edward twisted sideways and dropped off the bicycle seat before reaching out and hugging me against his chest. I hadn’t even considered that he might do something like that. I stiffened and glanced quickly over at Lauren, who appeared to be trying to catch flies with her wide open mouth. Edward immediately let go, his smile disappearing.

  1. Oh my. I think this is going to break my heart. I understand Bella's dilemma, her perceived dilemma, that is. But Edward is not the sum of his appearance. I guess that's why this story is called "Judging Books."

  2. OMG... can't wait; it sounds like its going to be a good chapter! Poor Edward. Why are we always so worried about preconceived notions? how nice would the world be if we could just be ourselves and not worry about what others might think about us; especially when most of those people don't even know us. I love you're writing and am so glad you're going to continue JB in some way or another.

  3. Bella...please don't be a shit to Edward because he doesn't meet the perceived standards of your friends or family. It's time to put on the big girl panties and be your own woman. Love this fic & I'm so glad you are going to continue it in some form.

  4. I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am that Unexpected Circumstances is next. That story idea is sooo hot and has so many wicked possibilities. The setting alone has my panties in a bunch. I can't wait. Even if that means SB will be finished *snief*.
As to JB - Oh no, poor Edward. He is going to be disappointed. He was never one to go by what others thought, so he will have a hard time understanding when she explains her reaction. I wonder how she will try to regain his trust. I agree with gbasjw - it's time Bella puts on her big girl panties. She might could always introduce him to daddy and move in.

  5. To steal a line from a beloved author, "It's shit or bust" Bella. Are you gonna grow one, right now, and stand up for your man?

PS. Had anchovies, capers and pasta tonight, Savage. Yum!

  6. If she's going to hurt him, I'm killing her!

Dump the snobs, and realise that if you ever want a life that isn't utterly dull because you have to spend 80 hours a week at the office and on the weekends play golf because daddy left you the company and you have to make sure the money stays with it, you should keep the boy. He's your salvation. Realise it. NOW.

  7. Yay unexpected circumstances is next! =)
Love those kingdom romances of the old time, please don't forget to share with us the details of life and romance back in those knights' days (you seem really good with details). The customs of old times are so interesting especially when paired with the romance.
