I know, I didn't post for a couple of days, but a new Caveward chapter posted today. I do have a bit of the next Transcendence chapter done as well, but it's not ready yet - probably tomorrow morning. Yes, what I said was true - it's almost over. It will likely finish this in the next few days. Once it is done, I'm going to focus on TMT (I haven't forgotten it! Really!) until it is finished. I have about a dozen other things to do at that point, and might actually take a little bit of a break. Not a long one!

Right now, my daughter is forcing me to watch the Smurfs. I'm going to have to watch a whole season of Spartacus to make up for it.

I think I survived! Megacon was fantastic, as always. If you have never been, and you have any interest in sci-fi, fantasy, animae, etc. you should really check it out. I had a wonderful time hanging out with my 501st Legion buddies, the Mayhews (check out the new Peter Mayhew Foundation website), D.J. Nelson Flux, Nick Wolfe (Evil Twin FX) and various others. Hung out at Moshi's Arkham Nights party on Saturday until it closed down. My pictures did not come out at all. Either I don't know how to use the camera on my iPhone or it just sucks - I'm not sure which.

I also got to meet some new people, which is always a great time. One of the people I met at the con was James Hence. You have to check out his stuff. It is just too freaking adorable.

So, Dragon Con should be next, though there are an awful lot of people trying to convince me to go to Star Wars Celebration VI instead. I can't possibly do both. Still leaning towards Dragon Con. Are you going to be there this year? :)

Busy end of the week coming up. I will be getting ready for and then heading to Orlando on Friday for Megacon. Hope to see some of you there! There probably won't be any updates from Thursday - Sunday, but I'll be taking Monday off and should at least get something out for you then!

I can't Follow the Rules

For the @ageofedward contest!

Long story short, As She Desires, which was originally written for the Age of Edward Contest, is WAAAY over the limit for word count. The maximum is 12,000, and the story is 18,000. After much debate with my beta and a bunch of people on facebook it basically came down to either cutting the story down to make it fit or not.

In a nutshell, I just couldn't cut that much out of it and keep the integrity of the story. So it will still be posted (probably today or tomorrow) in its entirety, but I won't be entering it in the contest.

For those of you who have been following this blog for a while, you know that a little more than a year ago it changed from looking like a third-grader's weekend project to something quite a bit more professional to say the least.

Yeah. Not my doing.

I write. That's what I do. I'm not a designer, and have absolutely no sense for such things.

So back in the beginning of 2011, I get approached by Robin, who has since given every one of my stories a place of their own, provide all of you with a single place to find everything you want, and constantly change and improve how it all works and ties together. She has done an incredible job here.

She's also become a good friend.

So today, please help me wish a very happy birthday to Robin! There is no way I could do all of this without you!

I didn’t really move, but rather tensed even more than I had been throughout this conversation. Again, there was the overwhelming urge to swallow before I could speak.

“Yes, Domina.”

“And were you ever a part of these?”

I turned my eyes away, not wanting to think of it, let alone answer such a question. My mind went to those days regardless, and my cock responded to the memories of warm mouths and cunts into which it had plunged almost as often as my sword had torn into another man’s flesh. Whether or not I participated in such base events – as well as with whom – was as much my choice as it was in the arena.

Last week it was extensive time studying for certification. This week it was Mr. Savage out of town and general work stuff. Now the Mr. is back, work has calmed down, and I have a terrible cold. My head is pounding.

Someone up there doesn't want me to have any time to write!!

Oh, and I keep trying to do the Starz online survey thing to unlock the next Spartacus episode and it's not working. Grrrr.

At least Arsenal is up 3-1 against Blackburn at halftime. I feel another RV Persie hat-trick coming.

Today in my home town, we are remembering the anniversary of a teenage girl who was killed in an accident. She was texting on her phone while driving.

Every once in a while I receive a message from someone saying they are reading or reviewing my stories while driving their cars. I honestly don't know if I would be able to continue writing if I ever heard someone was harmed in this way while reading one of my updates.

Please, please, please - do not text, read, or review while driving. I promise the update will still be there if you will promise me to wait until you get home to read it.

Monday Woes

I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, but Mr. Savage is traveling this week, so I am single parenting. I'm tellin' ya - when it rains, it pours! Where does all the housework come from? That's what I want to know! I swear I washed these same dishes and clothes last week! With all the RL stuff today, I haven't done any writing. I think at this point, I am officially taking the night off.

I did manage to take my exam today, so there is one less thing to worry about. Of course, who knows when I'll get the results...hopefully within a week.

I booked all my travel stuff for Megacon in Orlando next month! Always a good time!

I Feel Like Shleprock

So this last week has been...interesting...

For those following on Twitter Monday night, you know I ended up behind a nasty wreck on I-71, where I sat at a dead stop for an hour and a half. Finally got to the hotel after 10pm, went to class the next morning, and found out what was supposed to be a 3 day lass was actually a 4 day class.

Ugh.

After rescheduling all my Friday meetings, extending my hotel, AND going shopping for clothes to wear, I immersed myself in ITIL Service Operations information for the rest of the week to prepare for my exam on Friday.

Friday at 1:00pm, I'm ready to take it!

I look at the test...

Ah ha! I remember all this stuff!

I look at the question booklet...

And it makes NO SENSE what-so-ever...

The exam scenario book and question book DON'T MATCH.

The testing center has to call Holland for help...and I run out of time.

I still haven't taken my certification exam. It's going to be rescheduled for Monday.

So, I'm feeling like Shleprock. Some of you are old enough to get that reference. :)

Traveling

“Can I touch him?”Alika asked.

“Of course!” Isa answered. “Do whatever you like to him. Father insisted I needed further protection, which is ridiculous, and seems to think some Roman entertainer is the answer.”

I glanced at Isa as she tilted her eyes to the heavens and laughed dismissively. I tried not to feel insulted at her admonishment, but I did straighten my shoulders a little more as Alika approached. She reached out with her hand and placed it against my chest for a moment before she let it slide down my body. The other woman smirked as she also moved in front of me.

I stood as still as I could as the young woman walked slowly around me and her friend moved closer. I felt the edge of her finger trace over my shoulder and down across my tricep. Her other hand ran down the length of my spine, over the scarred skin of my back, and stopped just at the top of the balteus around my waist. The other woman’s hand found interest in the outlines of the muscles of my abdomen, as well as the long scar that ran across them.

I could feel myself growing numb as the graze of their fingers lay across my skin – dropping lower to touch the back of my thighs before raising high enough to run over my ass as well. The feeling induced by their stares and touch was as familiar as that of steel in my hands and the taste of blood in my mouth. At first there was the slow curling of my gut back inside of myself, like a scutum shield to cover my mind and soul, and then the warmth of pride covered my skin as my cock refused to give purpose to their touch.

I got absolutely nothing productive done yesterday, with the single exception of moving a trunk from one room to another. I think I might have to be more productive today, or I won't have any clean laundry for tomorrow.

I did, however, get a bunch of the Gladiatorward story for the Age of Edward Contest written. It's probably close to half written now. Watch for another teaser later today! More caveward coming up, too!

But first - Arsenal vs. Manchester United! Hopfully, I can figure out where it's going to be shown in the US, because FSC seems to be playing a different game... grrr.... Hoping to see Henry on the field. Go Gunners!!

Weekend!!

For once, I have very little going on this weekend except a bunch of household organizing and such, so I hope to get a lot of writing done. There should be another chapter or two of Transcendence coming out, and I'll be working on the Gladiatorward o/s for the Age of Edward contest. Need to get going on TMT chapter 8 as well...

This coming week I will be traveling for work, and I have no idea if I will be able to post from the hotel or not, so there may not be much in the way of Transcendence updates for a couple of days there. The good news is that when I'm not working I won't have a house and family to deal with, so I'll probably spend the extra time writing in my hotel room. I hope to complete the Gladiatorward o/s during that time as well as have a couple new chapters of Transcendence to post when I get back on Thursday night. THEN I'm out of town next weekend, so probably no updates then, either.

Looking to the future, I'm hoping to participate in "Drabble Wars" in March or April. I don't have a definite story idea at this point, but I'm kicking a couple around. I think one of the ideas is just about as crazy as caveward, so I'm leaning towards it. I'm gonna need to hire me a banner maker!

Alice tenses at a vision of Jasper and I fighting – one that repeats for her on a fairly regular basis with only a change in location. She worries that the fight is inevitable and tries to come up with ways of changing it. The visions fade, twist, and turn as she considers what she can do to make it come out the way she desires…a happy, loving little vampire family in the quiet little Olympic Peninsula town of Forks…

And then – as abruptly as the visions started – they stop.

Alice stiffens, and Jasper steps closer to her side.

“What is it?”

She doesn’t respond, her thoughts confused and disoriented without her extra sense. I am briefly reminded of how I felt in the alley when I first saw Bella – her silent mind disturbing my sense of how the world is.

“Alice!” Jasper’s thoughts are concerned and nearly panicked. He keeps looking over at me sideways, believing whatever it is she is seeing now must be of my doing.

Her eyes blink a few times before they slowly turn to focus on his.

“I’m…blind,” she whispers.

Working on TMT a bit today, along with a lot of house work. Sigh. On the bright side, there are caramel rolls about to go in the oven!

My parent's 50th wedding anniversary party was a great success! Everyone seemed to have a good time and I saw a lot of people I hadn't seen in a very, very long time - including my 4th grade teacher. One of the first things she says to me - "I remember you used to write all the time!" I had to laugh, and eventually told her what I write now and gave her a business card.

So, Ms. S. - if you do stop by the blog and read any of this, I realize it's not the sort of stuff I wrote when I was nine...um...at least the grammar is pretty good? You can take credit for that!

Self Publishing - I Need Your Input!

I'm not sure how many times I have received messages from fans asking "why haven't you published anything?" Short answer - I haven't decided what publishing route to use.

The world of publishing is changing fairly drastically. The self-publishing of Indie eBooks through Amazon, Smashwords, and similar on-line agencies is absolutely booming. I've kind of been sitting back and watching it all unfold, trying to figure out where I fit into this. I don't like being stifled. I don't like someone else telling me what I should write, when or where - it takes the fun out of it. I've been very concerned that if I go with a traditional publisher that I will be told I have to stop writing fan fiction and pull all my stories if I want a contract with them.

Sounds familiar to anyone?

I understand the publishing industries need to protect itself - I do - but I don't agree with it. I think there are enough people out there who like my writing that they would consider buying anyway, even if they have either 1) read the Edward and Bella version or 2) they can read other stuff I've written for free.

So - here's the ultimate question, and one I need your help in answering. If I self publish, will you buy? If I can be successful on the side by publishing some original works, I can continue to write E/B fan fiction as well. If I go with a traditional publisher, I probably won't be able to by contract.

I'm not dead...really! Thanks for all the messages of concern. Not even I can keep up with daily postings all the time. :) It takes about 2 hours to write a dribble chapter, and sometimes the day just doesn't allow for it. I'm usually just a little bit ahead, but I ran out of those as well. Work and family just getting the better of me.

No idea if the rest of the week will be better or not - the last couple of days have sneaked up on my time as well. Maybe I'll have lot of boring conference calls today and get some writing done, then. :)

Does Vacation Have to End?

I'm about to head back into work, where I haven't checked email or voice mail since before Christmas. I'm scared!!! Hopefully, it won't get too bad, but you will have to wait until this evening for a Transcendence update. That's is, assuming I don't just watch more Spartacus, because my OCD is in overdrive on that one. Be glad there is only one full completed season, or I'd probably disappear for a month.

My apologies for how late this chapter is. I have many excuses, each of which is more boring than the last. :) Almost ready for beta - here is a nice, long teaser to tempt your eyes...

Alice’s eyes stare straight ahead, but she sees nothing with them – her focus internal. Inside her mind the van and the truck collide, and Bella Swan is crushed between them.

“Not her!” The words may or may not actually leave my mouth.

I do not think, I only move. I swerve around the children standing and staring faster than they can even acknowledge. Bella does not change her focus from the van as it speeds towards her, and does not sense my approach enough to turn towards me as I slam into her side and send her to the ground.

My hand crushes the side of the van, and I wince as I hear the crack of Bella’s skull against the pavement. My entire body tenses. If her blood has been split…

“Edward?” Her voice is soft, surprised…alluring…

I look down into her eyes as the scent of her smashes into my face. I have my arm wrapped around her back and I’m holding her against my chest, just barely off the ground. I haven’t been this close to her since the first night in the alley, when my fingers almost brushed her cheek. I had been sated then, on the blood of three humans in as many hours. But now…now I was bordering on thirsty.

And she was right there.

The artery in her neck throbbing, pulsating, and screaming at me.

Much like my cock.

My tongue runs over my lips and teeth, tasting venom. Though quick, the beat of her heart is gentle, and I can feel it through the palm of my hand against her back. Under her skin, I can hear the whooshing of blood as it travels through her vessels.

“Edward?”

I can’t move my eyes away from it.

I lean forward ever so slightly, and bring my teeth within inches of her neck.

I hope everyone's New Year's celebrations were safe and fun! Did you make any resolutions this year? I have a few I thought I would share with you.

New Year's Resolutions:

Continue writing fan fiction. I thought I'd go ahead and get that one out of the way first, just in case anyone was worried. :) First off would be Tempt My Tongue, then Transcedence, and then later (after the Age of Edward contest), expand the Gladiatorward story.
Expand and publish Otherwise Alone. I haven't decided on exactly which publishing route to go just yet (Traditional or self-published), but hope to decide and work towards it by the end of the month. Depending on the success of that, I'll do more.
Meet some more of the lovely ladies in the fandom I have gotten to know on my PC screen, but haven't managed to actually meet in person. I had an awesome time hanging out with a few people in Atlanta this past Labor Day and also for the BD premier in Newport. I have no idea how to accomplish this, but I might just have to work on it. Who's making plans to go to Dragon Con this year? :)
Exercise more and eat better. I always say this. I think it is standard, right? It's also nicely vague, which means I probably won't managed to accomplish it. Ha!

You know all that stuff I was going to get done this week? Yeah, not much of it happened. I have been relaxing and taking it easy though, but I can't believe how quickly the week has flown by. Kind of like the whole year.

Other "Stuff"

Could Be Worse Right banned from FFN for content violation. This was likely the second best publicity I ever received. This also brought me Robin, my fabulous blogger and organizer, without whom this blog would still look like second rate crap. :) She got the blog set up for CBWR? so the story could continue.
Michael Sheen on VH1 Morning Buzz reading from the first chapter of Unexpected Circumstances. This still floors me whenever I think about it. It also brought fanfiction as a whole a LOT of positive attention. Hands down, the best publicity I ever received!
Concubine Gate. Though at times painful, much like those chapters themselves, I learned and grew from this. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing about the story. There are times I might have kept my mouth shut, though. :)
I have put to page over 675,000 words. DK has beta'd most of that.
I finally got on Facebook!

Just looking at that list kind of makes my eyes pop out.

Gigantic thank yous to DK, my ever-enduring beta, who has had to read through the crap (did you see that number of words up there??) to help me find the gems, and to Robin, for all the blog stuff. Between the two of you, your tireless work makes me look damn good!

Vacation Week! Hoh!

I am taking the week off from work! Woot! We have no real set plans, though I think we'll hit the go-kart track at some point this week or maybe head over to Great Wolf lodge and play Magi Quest - who knows? I will definitely be doing some writing, that is for sure.

More Transcendence - most certainly. I plan on continuing with a chapter or so a day, depending on what else I have to get done.

TMT - I am horribly behind on this one, but hoping to get the next chapter out this week, too.

Also might start working on a little but of a new o/s for the Age of Edward contest - not 100% sure yet, but I have been seriously tempted when people keep throwing pictures like the one below at me on Facebook... I have threatened to do Gladiatorward before, and now I just might have to do it!

Chances are you remember this contest from the past two years. It has been a great success, giving authors old and new a chance to participate in a wholly unique sort of one/shot contest: writing an Edward from a particular historical era.

This year the contest will commence on January 2, 2012 and will run until February 5, 2012, at which point all entries must be submitted.

Winners will be announced March 1, 2012.

There are two categories: literotica and young adult (for those who don’t write smut and for those who do).

What the Hell Is Broca's Area? AKA Why Ehd Can't Speak?

Broca's Area is the part of the brain believed to be associated with the comprehension of both verbal and non-verbal language. For the purposes of Transcendence, Ehd is a completely fictitious form of human-like primate (we'll call him Homo-savage, m'kay?), who is pretty much exactly like modern humans except he has no Broca's Area in his brain.

What the hell does that mean, Savy? I didn't know this was science class!

What it means is Ehd CAN'T learn to speak. He just doesn't have the ability. He's still highly intelligent and capable of learning many things, he'll just never associate the sounds Beh makes with any objects or actions other than their name-words. He might learn to associate a sound with a desired behavior - that is, he can figure out that if he makes a certain sound (khzz), Beh will put her lips on his and he likes this, but he'll never truly associate the sound with the action like your two-year-old will.

It is very much like your dog, who might learn a whole bunch of commands, but s/he doesn't actually know the word "walk." That doesn't mean they aren't smart - they'll still pick up the leash and carry it to the front door - it just means they don't have the capacity for language.

So, no matter how much Beh tries, Ehd's never going to speak English or French or COBOL. It's just not within his capabilities. He's still a bright boy, though - he'll come around in many ways. At least he's clean now.

If this doesn't make sense, or you happen to be a neurologist and you're mumbling "bullshit" under your breath, just remember while you're muttering that, I'm muttering "artistic license." ;)

Now who's old enough to look at that post title and hear Dire Straits singing it? LOL

Anyway - TMT is severely delayed. Why? Because I haven't worked on it. No BS. I just haven't managed to do it between holiday prep, real life work, and some of the naughtier Caveward bits. I've got maybe 200 words of it written. Not too surprising this time of year, really. I'm behind in most every other aspect of my life, too. That includes emails and PMs, so please be patient if you have sent me one - I'll probably get caught back up between Christmas and New Years, since I'll be taking some time off of work. Yay!

Transcendence is still flowing pretty quickly, so I hope to keep up with those short, daily updates. Never any promises, but I'll try.

Happy Friday all! I'm a little behind this week - I blame the holidays. The next TMT Chapter is off to beta, and will probably post tomorrow. I think you brave, trusting souls will probably like it, but I'm expecting hate mail as well. LOL! How's THAT for a teaser? If you haven't checked out the reading group on the Robstenlove forums - do! It's been a lot of fun so far!

I'm heading out to Mr. Savage's company holiday party tonight. Neither of us is in much of a social mood, so I doubt we'll be there too long. There should be a new Transcendence chapter up before beddy-bye time tonight! (That's 11:00pm EST.)

I watch from the tree line in the back of Forks High School as Bella sits on a picnic table near the entrance to the cafeteria. She is wearing a short sleeved shirt, and I am captivated by the shift of her tendons under her skin as she lifts herself on top of the wooden table and leans back on her arms. The movement of a few other students, also early to the school yard on this morning, hardly catches my eye. I am far too focused on her.

The curve of her arm entices me, and I wonder what the inside of her elbow would taste and feel like if I ran the flat part of my tongue over it. With a contented sigh, she crosses her ankles in front of her, drawing my attention down her long, slender legs. My hands itch to grab her ankles and part them, inhaling the scent of her sex before I delve into her delectable pussy. Her hair glimmers in the sunshine, and what might look brown to human eyes shows off its strands of gold, burgundy, red…she is captivating.

Other students pass, but only one catches my attention when he stops near her. It is not until he speak that I realize who he is.

For those who were on twitter this morning, you know my day did not start off all that great. The love of my life, my iPhone, was dropped onto some cement steps. Thankfully, it looked just fine! Until I lost my balance and stepped on it.

The screen shattered, along with my entire day.

You people know how nutty I am about things being "just so." I love my iPhone. I'm never without it. Ever. I sleep with it under my pillow. Really.

So I went to *nameless cellphone provider*, who said it would be two weeks before they could replace it. TWO WEEKS?? I'd get the bends! I even tried to order on online at that point, but the same provider's !!$%#^ website said I had to transfer the whatsit before I could order a something, which I would need for this and that, and then cancelled the whole order and made me start over again.

Three times.

I talked to their "online chat support" which sucks ancient antelope balls.

I finally gave up, decided to brave the holiday traffic, and drive to the Apple Store at the mall. In December.

When I arrived, I'd swear there are 200 people in the store. I even saw a guy I used to work with hanging out with his wife and trying to con her into buying the "kids" an iPad. I figured I'm going to be there for the night, and would have blogged a "sorry no more updates on Transcendence today" post, but I couldn't type around the screen shatter pattern.

About three minutes after I walk in, a tech comes over. His name is Casper. He looks at the shattered phone and asks if I have a problem with the battery.

Ah - humor! Arr! Arr!! (That was a Mork from Orc impersonation, FYI.)

I might use him in a future story.

To make this long story short, he replaced my phone INCLUDING putting on a new screen protector without a single bubble, in about six minutes. Not two weeks. I might have told him I love him. I'm not sure - it's all kind of a blur now. I know I was elated.

Mr. Savage has been whining for an iPad. I told him to go get one. Get two. Six. Whatever.

Casper at the Apple store in Kenwood Mall gets all the points I have to dole out today. I am again, a happy Savage.

I'll go write some more now...

My Saturdays

After many, many work related phone calls last night, I have slept in today. I don't usually do that. Good for my body, I'm sure, but my prime "the rest of the family is asleep and I can get shit done" time has been thwarted.

Thwart is a funny word.

My daughter is "cheering" her first basket ball game today. It should be fun! Then my 16 year old son is having a bunch of friends over to the house, which seems to have become their Saturday routine. They are a nice bunch of boys, but cost me a fortune in cola, popcorn and pizza.

There should be another chapter of Transcendence out sometime this evening. Maybe if I get other stuff done a little faster I'll get two out today. Hope everyone is still enjoying it!

I go through the house a second time before I hear the sound of her truck approaching and have to come up with some place to hide. I consider my options – back outside, in the pantry in the kitchen, behind the couch near the wall – none of the indoor ides seem all that plausible, but I loathe the idea of going outside when she would be in here.

I finally decide the closet in her bedroom is my best option. There are many clothes in the back I can hide within if she decides to open the door, and it is right above the kitchen where she seems to spend the majority of her afternoons doing her homework and cooking for her father. I will be able to hear the pages of the books she reads as well as watch her through her father’s mind later. I quickly slip into her room and then into the closet, closing the door behind me as I hear her key turn the deadbolt lock in the front door.

It does not take long for me to realize what a mistake this hiding place is. There is a lot less room to concealing myself in the small space that I originally thought, and her scent is absolutely overwhelming. It is not so much because of the clothes themselves as they hang on their hangers, but more because there is also a hamper full of clothes she has recently worn.

Dear God, she must have been menstruating recently.

Fic Rec - Written in the Stars

Like I might have mentioned on Twitter yesterday, if you aren't reading this story, you should be.

Written in the Stars Summary - Edward is king of a dying race, his planet torn by civil war. Bella is abducted to become his bride. From college student to Queen... Can she learn to love this strange man and help save his people? AU/OOC. Rated M for lemons, violence and mature themes.

It starts off just a little bit slow, but get through the first chapter and be ready for some seriously complex story lines, a completely out of this world Edward (literally! He has a tail!), political intrigue, betrayal, and civil war. Quite well written by Lissa Bryan and there are 29 chapters so far of this WIP for you to read. It feels like it's winding down at this point, so for those who have to wait until something is marked complete, I don't think you have far to go.

What I'm loving most about this story are the descriptions of the Alphas' (the dominant race) devotion to their mates - Edward's intense emotions for Bella really come through. You can also really feel Bella's struggle to make the right decisions when so much rests on her shoulders.

Give it a read, people! While you're busy doing that, I'll see if I can write a little more EvilStalkerVampWard.

Here's a quick little teaser for TMT chapter 3. Just because I seem unable to control myself when I get a ridiculous idea in my head (like why do people refer to possessive Edwards as Caveward and why isn't there a fic set in prehistoric times), doesn't mean I stop writing what I'm already doing. Hopefully everyone realizes that by now.

Tempt My Tongue Chapters

The family is out of the house, so I'm working on Tempt My Tongue Chapter 3. I kind of got hit with a scene for this story in my head last night, and I'm actually changing a good portion of the original outline. I often make small changes, but this is a faily big one. That's not really my point, though. The point is, I can't think of a damn chapter title. I try to keep all the titles, like the last lines, consistent throughout the story, and as I'm looking at the first two I have discovered I hate the chapter title format for TMT.

I yell out "woes me!" a few times (there's no one here to make fun of me, as I mentioned), and then it occurs to me - it's my story! I can do whatever the fuck I want! Ha HA!!

So, I changed the chapter titles for the first two chapters. Well, I dropped the second word on both of them. It'll just be easier on me later. My browser like to cache stuff forever, so I don't actually see the changed titles yet myself, but I assume they'll be visible eventually. LOL

It is not that she is extraordinarily beautiful – she is not. She is rather plain, really. Exquisitely plain. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She is small in stature and not picture-perfect at all. She looks like a typical girl from a typical little Washington town, but she isn’t. She isn’t even close to being typical, because her blood is the sweetest thing I have smelled in my entire ninety years as a blood-drinking demon.

Our eyes remain locked together.

My mind wanders… if I had seen her in a different time, a different set of circumstances…would I have taken her gloved hand? Kissed it softly, and asked permission from her father to take her on a walk in the park? Would she have smiled up at me in the sunshine, her cheeks pink with her shyness as she sipped lemonade on the porch?

I have to stop breathing.

The intensity is too much.

I want to drink her blood.

I want to steal her away and keep her for myself.

I want to lie her down on clean, white sheets and violate her body.

I want to hear her call my name in ecstasy.

I want to take her to a movie.

The End of a Story

The end of a story is always a little odd. I've been kind of sitting here wondering what to do with myself. Yes, I've been working on Tempt My Tongue, and made some progress there, but I feel like something is missing. Like my pants.

Unexpected Circumstances was an incredible ride for me, for a lot of reasons. It was a wonderful learning experience - both in good ways and not so good ways. I changed POV, which I always thought I would never do. I had to stick to my guns despite the pressure to do otherwise. I think I definitely learned a lot and grew both as a writer an as a person throughout the past year.

The Horizon

Unexpected Circumstances is wrapping up! The epilogue will post Friday or Saturday. So what's on the horizon for me?

Tempt My Tongue - if you haven't checked this out yet, and you are a VERY brave and trusting soul, go ahead and read the first chapter. I was debating on making this a Dribble Fic or a more "traditional" length chapter story, and I think I'll be going with traditional. The chapters aren't going to be horribly long, but I hope a good medium length will allow me to update on schedule. Once you've read it, check out the Tempt My Tongue Reading Group on the Robstenlove Forums. Yes, you do have to create an account to join, but I really think it will be worth it! Questions for the first chapter have already been posted!

I'm also working on the outlines for three different original works (GAH! Why do I do this to myself???). Not completely sure where they will end up, but I hope to focus on those a bit for the next few months, so bear with me if TMT doesn't update weekly 100% of the time.

Reviews

I started this conversation on Facebook this morning, and wanted to elaborate on some of my own experiences here, both as a reader and a writer...

"What do you think of the whole "Reviewing" aspect of fan fiction? Sometimes crappy fics get a lot of reviews, and sometimes great fics get none. We tend to look at the number of reviews and assume that means "good". Is it true, or is it just as likely that the fics with a lot of reviews are a lot of BAD reviews?"

In my experience, reviews are a wonderful thing when they are constructive (either with improvement suggestions or with praise) and well meant. They are a great way to determine if this is a story you want to read. They can also be really, really misleading.

With Dribble fics (I'm not calling them drabble fics! That's something else!), review counts end up being...well...a little silly. If there are 100+ chapters on a fic that is even a little bit popular, chances are there are a lot of reviews. At the same time, just because there are a lot of reviews doesn't mean the story is any good. Having a few reviews doesn't mean the story is bad, either.

Some of my (random and disorganized) thoughts on reviews:

1. Sometimes I wish they weren't there at all. I love getting the feedback from people, but I hate what reviews seem to do to some people some of the time. There is the potential to give writers a big head, and the potential to have a writer be accused of having a big head, humble or not.

2. I don't write for the sake of getting reviews. If I had one review per chapter, I would still be writing. Does anyone write JUST for the reviews? Seems like a lot of work for little gain. I wonder if that is even possible, but my mind is a little funny, too.

3. The very few times I have seen end notes on a story that say "I'll post an update once I get another 150 reviews" I have dropped the story completely. That's just rude, imho.

4. I wish I could respond to more of them.

5. I rarely review (isn't that awful?!?!) when I'm reading. I try to make up for it by writing a recommendation or pimping out a good story on the blog or something instead.

6. The most amusing review I ever got was from someone who obviously clicked on the wrong link. It was a review, and a very nice one, but mentioned characters that weren't in my story! LOL I didn't have the heart to respond to it and point out the mistake.

7. Tone is impossible to convey in a review. Keep that in mind when writing them AND reading them. Also, with English being many people's second or third language, keep translation issues in mind when you read them as well. Sometimes a review may sound negative when it is not meant that way.

Weekend Teaser! UC Chapter 38

Happy Saturday everyone! Chapter 38, which will be the last full chapter of UC, is nearly done. I just have a bit more to finish up before I send if off to beta later today. The lovely DK is out of town, though, so please be patient and give her a while to get it done. In the meantime, here's a teaser for you!

“Now that you mention it,” I said as I pecked at her lips again, “there is something I have been meaning to do for quite some time now.”

“What is that?” Isabella asked.

I did not answer her, but quickly found Samantha to watch over Little Edward as I took my wife’s hand and led her down the back staircase to the Great Hall. I checked around the room quickly, but as I suspected, it was completely empty at this time of night. Still, I would not wish to be interrupted, so I instructed Isabella to stay where she was as I went to the doors and informed the guards that no one was to enter, for any reason.

Returning to my wife’s side quickly, I reached for her hands and brought our bodies close together. I could see the slight confusion in her eyes as our bodies touched, but she still melted against me as I took her face in my hands and kissed her deeply. My hands found their favorite places – her arms, her shoulders, her breasts – and then came back up to cup her jaw once more. My thumbs brushed over her cheekbones as I finally broke our kiss and dropped my hands to lace together with her fingers.

Isabella licked her lips as we parted, and I gave her a half smile and a raise of my eyebrow. Her cheeks tinged red as her eyes dropped down to the ground, and her fingers tightened around mine. Before she had a chance to say anything I turned around, still holding on to Isabella's hand, and sat down on the throne of Forks. I raised my eyebrows at her again and gave her a big smile as I pulled her to stand between my knees.

“I told you I would take you here one day.”

Need More Coffee!

I was up extra early today working on the final full chapter of UC. I know - it's hard to believe the journey is almost at an end! I'd say it's about half way done, and should post this weekend if at all possible. There will be a short epilogue, maybe two just so I can end up with that night round number of chapters. Geez, I swear this OCD of mine has gotten worse when it comes to chapter and story lengths!

Tempt My Tongue should start posting regularly in a couple of weeks. There will be a reading group for this story, which I think will be a lot of fun. I've never done one of those before, but I'll post up the details when I have them. I've been working on the second chapter off and on as I finish up UC, so it should be able to post relatively quickly.

“Are there many minutes between pains?” Kate asked. After a moment of silence, I realized she was asking me.

“What?” I replied.

“How far apart are her pains?”

“Um…well…she’s been crying since I got here.”

“All the time, or does she stop for a while?”

“She stops”

“For how long?”

“I have no idea!” I snapped back.

She woman took a long deep breath, glared at me, and then turned to my wife.

“Isabella?”

“A minute or two,” Isabella moaned. The sweat was back on her brow again, though I had just wiped it away. “No more than that.”

“Let’s see how you are doing then.”

To my horror, the woman reached down and began to life my wife’s skirts.

“What do you think you are doing?” I yelled at her as I slapped her hand away.

She backed off, her eyes widened for a brief moment, and then they calmed and settled into…amusement? Her lips pursed, and she shook her head slightly.

“King Edward,” Kate said as she placed her hands on her hips. “Do you think this child is going to come out through her dress?”

TGIF and Various Updates

Busy, busy week! Why do I feel like I say that every Friday? Oh...'cause I do.

My busy beta is working on the two stories for charities this weekend - Play By Play, the Offside outtake for Mal and Leo's HEA, and Otherwise Alone, the one/shot for Fandom for Texas Wildlife Relief. Have you donated yet? :)

With both of those stories done, I just have UC to work on this weekend. *IF* I get it done in time, it should post beginning of the week after going through beta. If I don't get it done in time, I might need a volunteer beta reader, since mine is going out of town. Either that or you'll get an un-beta'd chapter, which I hate to do. However it works out, I won't make you wait any longer than you have to, I promise. :)

Also doing a little work on Tempt My Tongue, though most of it has been in my head and not written down yet. Speaking of TMT, there is going to be a reading group for it! I've never done one before, but it sounds like a lot of fun. I'll have more details as I get them. :)

Summary - Life can become seriously boring when you're a hitman hiding out in the middle of the Arizona desert with no one for company but your dog. That is, until a young woman suddenly appears on your doorstep with a story of her own.

“What? Aside from the massive orgasm you had?”

She hesitates, but answers in the affirmative.

Who was I to argue?

“Aside from the obvious bullshit nature of the story you gave me when you got here,” I start, “the ring finger of your left hand still has the indent of a ring you wore for a long time – either engagement or wedding – whatever it was. You were too tight to have been having sex regularly, which means even though you were still wearing your ring recently, you weren’t getting it on with your fiancé or husband. You’re a little timid, which means he was abusive to you – maybe not physically, because I don’t see any evidence of that – but at least mentally or emotionally. Guys that are shits to their women tend to feel bad about it, so when he tried to make up for whatever shit he did to you, he’d make slow love to you as a way of apology. You probably grew to associate that kind of sex with the shitty apologies he never really meant, so as sweet as he wanted it to be, it left you feeling emotionally empty inside. That’s why all you want now is to be fucked.”

I open my eyes and look into her shocked expression.

“Hard,” I add.

Patience is a Virtue, but it Still Sucks

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I promised my daughter a trip to Kings Island for all their Halloween festivities. Any excuse to wear her "spider lady" costume, I think. We also hope to get to the Chocolate Festival at the Cintas Center at Xavier University today. It's only the second year they have done it (I did not go last year), and I have NO idea what to expect, but hey - it's chocolate! I have the feeling my diet is blown for the day.

Otherwise Alone is coming along nicely. It's going to be LONG, I tell ya - and I don't mean Edward's cock. Well yes, I do, but the story is long, too! I plan to get it about 80% done today, and hopefully use the rest of this week to flush it out and get it ready for beta and the Fandom for Texas Wildfire Relief compilation by Friday. Though I have started UC Chapter 37, I doubt it's going to be ready for next weekend, since this OA has a more defined deadline. :)

Thursday Teaser - UC Chapter 36!

Tuesday...Thursday...whatever! Sorry - it has been a busy week. I do have some nice new furniture, though, which includes a new recliner for me. I might do a lot of writing from there. :)

I grabbed up the ropes they brought to me and made quick work of Jessica’s arms while Jasper – his eyes still staring blankly as he tried to prepare himself for what he knew would come – tied ropes to her ankles. Once she was tied tightly, the end of each rope was given to a different soldier, who walked solemnly to one of the horses. Each horse faced a different direction, and as the soldiers tied the ropes to the saddles, I grabbed Jessica by her middle.

She struggled, kicked and screamed at me, but I ignored her. I held her flat with my palms underneath her back until the soldiers had walked the horses far enough away for me to release my grip without her body falling to the ground.

“There you go – stop now,” I called out, and the soldiers steadied each of the horses. “Hold them still.”

I stepped up to one side of Jessica and looked down at her. She was completely suspended in the air now, with each of her splayed limbs holding up the rest of her body. At the end of the line, each horse stood with the rope secured on the saddle and a soldier standing with sword drawn. At my signal, they would know exactly what to do.

“Do you realize,” I asked as I leaned over her, “exactly what will happen to you if I send the horses into a run?”

Busy Day

I've got a very busy day ahead of me. Fun stuff at work will keep me there late, plus soccer practice for the girls this evening. Their last game is this coming Saturday! It's definitely been a good time coaching them.

My son seems to be getting over his wisdom tooth extraction very well. Thanks again for everyone's advice and recipes! Mostly he's complaining about the lack of variety in his meals at the moment, but generally on the mend.

I do have a decent chunk of UC chapter 36 written, but not quite half way there yet. Probably no teaser today - sorry! Hope to have one out tomorrow or Thursday, though, and still plan on having it done and ready to post for ht weekend.

Dribble Drabble

The whole "post a day" chapters in FanFic lately has been, in my opinion, awesome. I do want to make a clarification (which I didn't know myself until recently) between Drabble fic and what we've been doing in the FanFIc arena of late. Drabble fic has its own definition, and that's not what we're doing. See the wiki here. So I think I'm going with the term Dribble Fic, which means absolutely nothing (as far as I know - someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Anyway - why do I think it's awesome? Because as writers, it is a challenge. How much can you write per day? Can you really post a little something up every day of the week for months on end? Is that even possible? Well, no - probably not, but can you get close? And for me personally, how quickly can you COMPLETE a story? For readers, it's exciting and fun.

There are downfalls, though - a lot of them!

1. There no time for a beta. You need a beta, no matter how clean your writing is. This is the part that made both Could Be Worse, Right? and Offside a challenge - not so much because of all the typos that made it past my own eyes, but to keep my OCD self from going through and re-reading each chapter 15 times after I posted it and fixing every little typo. Why is that a problem? Because while I'm spinning my wheels (and using up my free time) doing that, I'm not writing more.

2. It's not going to be your best work. That's just all there is to it. Especially if you do it all off the cuff. This is true of all chapter by chapter writing, though - not just dribbles. Some of my best ideas come three chapters later, and usually I can find a way to work them into the story without too much effort, but it would have been better if I eluded to the idea earlier on. In a dribble, it's not three chapters, its twenty. Or thirty.

3. It's stressful. It's a lot of pressure on the writer when you know "x" number of readers and literally hitting "refresh" over and over again, twitter-stalking you, and sending multiple PMs a day asking if you are going to update soon or should they go ahead and go to bed.

If you are a writer, I'd suggest trying it once (even if you don't post it). It's challenging and fun. I'm not sure I'll do it again soon, though. I was debating with Tempt My Tongue, but i think I've decided on more traditional chapter lengths and a weekly posting schedule.

How about readers? What do you think of this new "trend"? Exciting and fun, despite the lower level of quality, or do you prefer to wait a while and get something more thought-out?

Smoothies, Mashed Potatoes and Ice Cream

Thanks to everyone who has posted up smoothie recipes (I've used a few!) and sent along general advice. It is very much appreciated! He's doing quite well (coached his sister's team with me this afternoon - they won!), though he still can't eat much. I'm making a huge batch of mashed potatoes right now just to get something a little more solid-like into him. I think if I offer him another smoothie he might hit me. hehe He's well enough to sit and the computer and blow things up, which is making it difficult to write smut, but that's always the case.

UC updated today, which you may have already seen. I like my medieval weapons, especially siege equipment - did ya notice? :) I should finish up around chapter 39-40. Not 100% sure, but that's how it looks right now.

I'm working on the one-shot for Fandom for Texas Wildfire Relief today, and hope to get it done this week. There should be a teaser for it here tomorrow. I need to get started on UC Chapter 36 as well, since I haven't written anything for it past the summary so far.

Woot!

Off work today because my 16 year old is getting his wisdom teeth out. Fun day ahead of him (not so much). I plan on spending my time looking up smoothie recipes (anyone have a recommendation?) and working on the one-shot for Fandom for Texas Wildfire Relief. UC Chapter 35 is off to beta!

I'll tell ya right now, this little O/S may be my favorite ever, and it's not even done yet. You should definitely consider donating, because it's probably not going to be posted on FFN. This will be your only chance to get it. I'm still debating the title (though I've narrowed it down to two, and I think I've settled on one, it just depends...), but once I decide for sure and it's a little closer to being done I shall post a banner and teaser for everyone.

Hump Day Hors d'oeuvre - UC Chapter 35 Teaser

Here you go - a little slice of Unexpected Circumstances, Chapter 35, brought to you by Lolypop82 and her fantabulous manips.

Though injured, our foes were still heavily armed, and Emmett pointed out the mercenaries in unmarked armor, not unlike the armor worn by those who had attacked my carriage. It was the same type as the man I had killed earlier. They all fought with similar maces and wore the same studded leather armor.

I closed my eyes for a moment as I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself. It was difficult when there were so many enemies around me and the blood on my sword was probably just beginning to dry. I wanted more death. It was the only thing that could occupy me enough to keep thoughts of her out of my head. If I were to think of her, I would undoubtedly collapse from the worry, and that would not serve her well.

My eyes fell on the two men in front, who seemed to be the center of the mercenaries’ attention. One tall man with a full beard appeared to be directing the other mercenary soldiers towards the younger lads with poor weapons and no armor. The other was at his side, relaying his orders to the ones behind them.

The bearded man’s face held a sinister grin as he kicked out at a farm boy of no more than thirteen years.

“Hand me your crossbow,” I murmured to Emmett.

“Of course,” Emmett replied. He took the heavy, crank-powered crossbow from the back of his horse and handed it to me. He placed a handful of bolts in my hand as well, and I quickly fitted one into the slot and cranked it back. I steadied Volvo, placed the weapon against my shoulder, took steady aim at the second man, and pulled at the trigger.

The bolt pierced the man through the neck and he dropped to the ground. The bearded man immediately turned from his ally towards our direction, and I allowed Volvo to take a few steps forward as my gaze met with the mercenary leader’s eyes from across the battle field. His eyes grew wide as he began to call out to his men to begin retreat.

That manip is the reason this chapter is a little behind and I haven't done anything else since I first saw it. I can't stop looking at it, then my panties get all sticky, I have to change clothes, and do laundry. Then the whole, awful cycle continues.

Pretty hot, huh?

Up way too early today

Woke up at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep. So I got up and painted the family room. I'm covered in "Baked Brie" colored paint, but the walls are done. I still need to paint one of the two doors to the laundry room, but after that I think I can officially call it done.

Why do you care about my family room? Well, you don't. But you do care about whatever the heck I'm writing that you are reading, and with the painting out of the way I can work on the UC chapter this evening. it's more than half done, I think. I am still a bit behind, but I hope to still have it posted sometime this weekend. Teaser (WITH BANNER!) should be up either tonight or tomorrow.

OK - off to the shower now to try to remove some of this paint...

Play By Play - Offside Outtake

I hope everyone is enjoying the change f tone in UC. I know - I hate it when writers change POV!! Make up your damn mind! LOL Anyway, it just made sense for UC at that point to me. Hope it makes sense to you, too.

I've been working on Play By Play - the Esme Platt and Edward Masen Offside outtake. It's just about done. Here's a banner for it that tpec1991 made with Hugh Jackman (yummy) as Edward Masen. There will be a teaser out before too long. :)

I could actually completely zone out watching those hands, and an hour could go by before I even realized it. I loved the way they strummed across the guitar strings, the way they wrapped around a bottle of beer, and I loved what I imagined them doing to me when I closed my eyes at night and…

It has been a crappy, crappy week.

Regardless, I've managed to make some writing progress. UC Chapter 34 is off to beta and will post whenever I get it back and edited - probably tomorrow. I'm working on the outtake for Mal and Leo and the and O/S for Fandom for Texas Wildfire Relief . I've received some awesome banners for each, which I hope to share (along with a teaser) in the next week or so.

Wrist is still bugging me, which is making typing kind of hard/slow. I think I just sprained it as opposed to developing carpel tunnel or something like that. It it doesn't feel any better by next week I guess I'll have to have it checked out.

I'm really excited about the reviews for Tempt My Tongue so far. All those brave, trusting souls out there are enjoying it so far! I think UC is going to wrap up at chapter 38-40, so it should start posting regularly by the end of November. Believe it or not, that isn't too far off!

Um...is it Thursday?

If you have been paying attention to my twitter, you probably noticed I've been at work just about constantly this week. I'm actually home just to gt some sleep this afternoon before I go back into work at midnight. Such is the life of IT support. :)

So, the bad news - I just don't see any way of getting the UC chapter out tomorrow. Depending on work, I hope to still get it out this weekend, but I just can't guarantee it when I'm going to be working in 12 hours shifts indefinitely. I'll try to keep you updated - I know everyone's waiting on it.
